Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Reviews

Works with facial recognition

I had rented a Sony 50 for an interview shoot and fell in love with the facial recognition autofocus. This communicates perfectly with the Sony FX9 at a fraction of the cost of the Sony, but I also love the warmth and look of the glass in these Sigmas. I'm a new fan. Going to buy the 85 next.

I’m absolutely thrilled with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art! It’s amazing for portraits and low-light photography. The sharpness and beautiful bokeh it delivers truly bring my shots to life. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the build quality feels premium. It’s become an essential tool in my work, and I’m so happy I added it to my collection!

How does this compare to the Samyang AF 50mm f/1.4 FE?
Asked by: James
While both the Samyang AF 50mm f/1.4 FE Lens for Sony E (BH #SASYIO50AFE) and the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens (Sony E) are nice f/1.4 prime lenses, there are a few subtle differences that should be considered. The Samyang is a bit more compact than the Sigma, as it is both smaller and lighter. However, the Sigma does have a smoother bokeh, as it has 11 diaphragm blades in the iris compared to the Samyang's 6.

No, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens (Sony E) is fly by wire and not good for smooth focus pulling. Best is to use a manual focus lens for that.
