Not as good as it should be

I have and love the larger sling from Wandrd, especially as a waist pack. When I needed a smaller one for an x100, I assumed this pack would be perfect. It is not.  I do not use bags as slings. I only use them as waist packs. This bag is mainly designed as a sling. The waist design is an afterthought. This has three major flaws.  1. When configured as a waist bag, the strap is much too long and only has a single stretchy ring to secure it; when you move the bag around your waist from front to back, that ring loses its place, so the strap winds up flopping everywhere. It gets in the way. This sounds minor, but it is a major annoyance when trying to shoot.  2. When loaded, the bag tends to lean outward. Even with the strap as tight as I can comfortably tolerate, the bag feels like it is falling outward. This may be because of the thin strap and / or where it connects to the bag. 3. The buckle is not secure. It is far too easy for this buckle to come loose. One wrong move and your pack will fall or be stolen off your waist. I really love my larger Wandrd gear. This one is well designed and made in most ways, but as a fanny pack it is a major fail.

Firstly, respect to the B&H salesman for his active listening skills and product knowledge to recommend this bag after our best attempts to describe what we wanted - something to fit a DJI Osmo on a stick. This sling was suggested and we love it. Well made with durable materials it anticipates many wants/needs. Such as a deep main packing area with minimal sectioning other than a zipper netted and slim pockets. The body is a durable yet flexible, water resistant plastic - think Patagonia Black Hole material . It can be worn either as a sling or waist pack by use of hooks that bring the zipper of the bag up and back which is more ideal when using as a sling. Hard to explain, and not obvious how to use at first, the design really is good although I wouldn’t have minded a dedicated sling design either. Attention to detail like Velcro wraps to secure excess webbing, internal key hook, big eyelets zipper pulls and rubberized water resistant zippers. The magnet web clasp is novel to me and super easy to use without sacrificing security. Lastly, the ‘secret’ zippered on the side next to your body is really handy. Big enough for a passport, phone, cash, or the like, the zipper can be passed through an elastic loop to make access more difficult if needed. Again, attention to detail. The 2L capacity is perfect for sunglasses case, wipes, chapstick, wallet, energy bar, keys with room to spare. Highly recommended!
