An STM stepping AF motor produces fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus performance to support both stills and video recording, and an Optical Image Stabilizer compensates for up to 4.5 stops of camera shake to better enable taking sharp handheld photos in difficult lighting conditions.

  • Standard wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
  • STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
  • Optical Image Stabilizer technology compensates for up to 4.5 stops of camera shake to better enable taking sharp handheld photos in difficult lighting conditions. When paired with EOS R-series cameras featuring an In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS), up to 7 stops of shake correction are provided.
  • Incorporates a focus control ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and more. Located towards the front of the lens, this ring effectively adds a third dial to the camera's main dial and quick control dial.
  • Two aspheric elements and a Super Spectra Coating minimize ghosting and flare.
  • Minimum focusing distance of 11.8" for working with close-up subjects.

    A great lens for the price

    I included this kit lens when buying the Canon R8 due to not needing an adaptor and it looked relatively small to use on casual outings. Although when fully extended it is longer than I expected it to be but I must say coupled with the R8 I am not disappointed with this lens. Most photos I take are pretty sharp. At 24mm it is 4.5, 35mm 5.0, and at 50mm it is 6.3 so chances of getting good bokeh are a bit slim but overall if you don't want to invest in a more expensive rf lens or carry around an L series lens with adaptor, this is a great choice. It is listed at $299 but as a bundle item it was $200.

    This lens is as good as you would expect it to be from Canon. But why buy it? For me, I will be doing a lot of touring this summer. I wanted something light for a lens about town. This is awesome. Also, I wanted something inconspicuous to avoid the attention of those looking for a "free" camera. This lens does it. It makes your kit look very average, and yet retains the superb quality of the canon system for your images. Definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing.

    Yes, this is an RF lens. So it will mount and work with the canon R50. Since the R50 is a crop sensor camera, it will have a field of view of 38mm-80mm.

    The Canon M50 camera uses EF-M mount lenses but the 24-50mm lens is an RF mount lens. This Canon 15-45mm EF-M lens would be the most similar option for the M50: https://bhpho.to/3IRc3ws
