Can I install ECC memory on it?
Asked by: Israel
For that you would need an AMD processor, like in the ds723+. The ds423+ has an Intel processor but has integrated graphics, something the AMD processors lack. I personally prefer the integrated graphics than the ECC support.

Can I fill the four hhd slots AND the two m.2 ...

Can I fill the four hhd slots AND the two m.2 slots thereby using six drives within the enclosure?
Asked by: Steven
Yes, the two M.2 slots on the Synology DiskStation DS423+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure can be used in conjunction with four SATA HDDs. The M.2 SSDs can be used as an SSD cache to speed up the volume of HDDs, or, with Synology SNV3000 series SSDs, as user accessible storage. All M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs will work for caching, but only the Synology SNV3000 series SSDs, like B#H # SYSNV3410800, can be used for storage.
