NiSi NM-200S Reviews

Precision equipment

I have a Sony RX10 M4 with a Nisi close up lens attachment. This is a perfect combination on my Manfroto 190CX3 tripod, and K&H Concept gear head. Really precision focusing, very slow and precise. Lots of 'Fluid Damping' feel to it. The nice feature of the NM-200S is the quick release button that allows the gears to be bypassed and the head pushed to and fro for quick adjustment. The bottom of the NiSi rail has a steel 1/4 tripod mounting hole. I used the included Arca plate attached to the bottom of the rail (screwed to the Tripod hole) to get the focusing rail lined up with the gear head correctly. When not in use the rail is easy to disconnect from the gear head as everything is Arca mount compatible. Some Arca mounts don't open far enough, and it is troublesome to get equipment in and out, but not with this NiSi rail, the mounts open plenty wide for all my different plates.

Fine macro rail

The tooling on the rail is solid so it performs exactly as you would like. I found the legs to be unnecessary, but no worries they are easily unscrewed.

How does this nm-200s compare to the nm-180?
Asked by: nick
The differences between the NiSi Macro Focusing Rail NM-180 and the NiSi Macro Focusing Rail NM-200S are additional quick release button on the camera platform that allows you to quickly move it back-and-forth across the rail. The other difference is 20 mm travel length on the NM-200S model.
