The Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens can use the Tiffen Solar ND Filter (46mm, 16-Stop), B&H # TI46ND48. Note, it is not ISO 12312-2 certified. It should not be used to look directly at the sun with our eyes. It can be used for the camera to take a photo of the sun. Look only in the LCD live view to compose the photo. Do not look in an optical viewfinder.

If this filter is NOT safe for direct eye viewing, why should I believe it IS safe for a camera's sensor? Please convince me.
The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (16.5-Stop) is safe for camera sensors when used carefully and following the instructions. The sensitivities of eyes and sensors are different and what is good for one may not be good for the other. This filter has been used on cameras without causing any sensor damage.

Unfortunately, ND filters like the Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) that cut UV and IR light do not specify a nanometer range. This is because they are meant for long exposures photos without a color shift and not for IR photography.

How much reduction in UV and IR spectrum, respectively, is specified? I understand the reduction in visible light is 16.5 stops.
Unfortunately, Nisi does not specify how much of the IR and UV is reduced for NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop). They do state that the UV and IR cut is to offer a color neutral result. Therefore the UV and IR cut should not be relied upon for anything else other than offering an image that is color neutral.
