SPINN.DESIGN CP.BG CAMERA PLATE Reviews

An Innovative concept for an Arca Swiss Plate

I have a SPINN CP.BG Camera Plate on a EOS R5 plus BG-R10 Battery Grip. The SPINN plate is well engineered and manufactured. It has smooth edges and a hard anodized finish. The two large rubber inlays and the included internal hex-head 1/4-20 screw provide a very solid, non-slip, non-rotating connection. The Arca-Swiss dovetail measures 38.96 mm wide which is at the wider-end of the allowable range of dovetail widths, but it should fit most, if not all Arca-Swiss clamps. I've tried it on a half dozen tripods and monopods using real Arca-Swiss clamps and several Chinese clones and so far it works on all I've tried. The feature that separates this plate from all the rest is the addition of the strap mount at each corner. I'm a big fan and user of the Peak Design (quick disconnect) Camera Straps and occasionally the Cuff Camera Wrist Strap. By attaching the Peak anchor connectors to two of the SPINN plate corners AND to the two original R5 top camera strap pins (using a total of four anchor connectors) I can now attach a strap at the bottom of the camera/battery grip for well balanced carrying on my hip or back. I can also quickly switch the strap to the camera top connectors to carry in the more common chest/front facing position OR I can use the top right attachment point alone to use the Cuff Wrist Strap. It's also easy to connect the Peak Design strap to the top-right point and the bottom right SPINN Plate anchor connector to carry the camera in a portrait ready orientation if desired. The combination of the SPINN Design Plate, a Peak Design Strap, and four Peak anchors provides a FAR more flexible and more usable carrying capability than either of these devices alone. The result is very comfortable and secure carrying arrangement for a camera, battery grip and often a moderately front-heavy lens (I often have the 70-200 f/2.8 mounted) that is fast and can quickly be optimized for the situation. It's truly a rare instance where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
