Sony does offer another CFexpress Type A lineup — the CEA-G Series — and, if you're wondering which would be better suited for you, here's some info that will help guide your decision. These new cards — the CEA-M Series — feature minimum sustained write speeds of 200 MB/s, but can withstand drops of up to 24.6' and are rigidity tested up to 150 N. While the CEA-G Series does feature minimum sustained write speeds of 400 MB/s, it can only withstand drops up to 15' and is rigidity tested up to 70 N. So, it comes down to whether you need more speed or more durability.

Hey there! A quick question on the Sony CFExpress ...

Hey there! A quick question on the Sony CFExpress type A tough cards. Have a Sony A7S III and considering M verse G series. The main difference being the minimum sustained write speed. Are there any recording modes on the A7S III that would create issues on the M series card ?! Frequently record in the higher bit rate modes including 4K 120. Occasionally 1080p at 240fps. Any recommendations on M vs G series and whether the M series can handle everything?? Thank you in advance!
Asked by: Marc
You would have no data rate issues using the Sony 960GB CFexpress Type A TOUGH Memory Card with the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera (BH #SOA7S3). When shooting with the highest settings the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera will not exceed the M card's sustained 200 MB write speed.
