Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Reviews
A great match for my Z fc

I had been looking for an affordable wide angle lens for my Z fc.
After reading the review with sample images on the B&H site, I decided to take a chance. Of course on a crop sensor it is effectively a 36mm which makes a good walking around prime lens to go with my short and long zooms. The lens is very sharp wide open with an incredibly shallow depth of field with beautiful soft backgrounds, and my copy has no discernible vignetting wide open. Really good color in my files too. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Ive mated this lens to my new z30. I wanted a prime lens and weight was an issue. I’m getting on in years and carting my 850 or z6 III with the lens loads when im doing alot of hiking or walking was getting to be uncomfortable. I needed lighter without losing the ability to take, what i call, cool pics.
Enter my z30 with the 24mm 1.7 lens. The 24 mm in dx format yields about the same field as the 35mm on the fx format, ok that’s cool. Now add the speed of F1.7, and your pretty much able to shoot in the almost dark.
Lens quality is good, price is very reasonable. And best of all, takes great pictures. If you’re looking to make a lightweight shooting pair this lens is worth serious consideration. Very accurate for scenery and awesome for portraits. I highly recommended this lens. Especially if you’re looking to just carry the one lens and camera combo.

Is this good for Astro photography on a z6 set for Dx?

If you want a wide lens it is not that wide on the Z6. And using the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Lens (Nikon Z) on the Z6 crops 1.5 times and you will loose a lot of resolution.
Better to use a non crop Z mount lens that is 24mm or wider. This is some options for those, https://bhpho.to/43UdWQp

How will this lense work on Nikon Z7ii ?
Asked by: william
on a Z7 II in APS-C crop mode, this DX lens' 24mm focal length will increase 1.5X, to effectively 36mm focal length (wide angle view), and you will only be using the center part of your full-frame sensor
if you want a full-frame Z lens with ~36mm focal length, to use the entire full-frame sensor, better lens choices would be the Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S (best quality) or Nikon Z 40mm f/2 (lightweight/compact)

I have a Z5. Will this lens work in DX mode and not have vignetting?
Asked by: Wayne
The Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Lens (Nikon Z) is a DX lens designed for use on cameras that use the APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor, while the Nikon Z5 Mirrorless Digital Camera uses the full-frame sensor. That being said, if you go to MENU button ➔ Photo Shooting Menu, then you go to "Choose Image Area" and select [DX (24x16)], you may use the 24mm f/1.7 lens without any vignetting issues. Do note that when using the DX crop mode, your maximum resolution will be reduced from 24.3 megapixels down to 10.3 megapixels.
