Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Reviews
Poor image quality
I bought one and it was just terrible with all kinds of field curvature. If focused in centers, sides out of focus. I returned it. A friend of mine had one to and he also returned it.
Best wide angle; Worth it!
This lens is heavy. But it's heavy on features too! I really like the clickable F-stop ring. It's right next to the focus ring so when you're shooting off hand and naturally cradling the center of gravity for the lens,... your support hand is in perfect position to fly though the f-stops and focus wheel at the same time. #oldschool The f-stop ring has a very satisfying click as you adjust your settings. But the lens also has the option to silence the clicks if it bothers you, The build quality on this lens is top notch. You're paying for a professional quality lens,... Sigma delivers a professional quality lens. I though I have not yet invested in a full frame Sony Gmaster lens yet,.. I don't think I will. Having tested this sigma art lens,.. it's Sigma Art lenses, for life! I don't think there's a way you can have buyers remorse after trying out these Sigma Art series lenses. The autofocus is super fast. A half press on the shutter goes from background to foreground focus in a blink. I typically run the a7 auto-focus with half shutter, and manual focus active when I use the manual focus ring. With other lenses, I find myself fine tuning the focus more often. I hardly have to touch the manual focus with this Art lens. This is an ultra wide angle lens. That comes with pros and cons. You're definitely going to have to get up close and personal to your subjects, or at least some of the foreground elements. While there is some distortion when shooting up or down,.. you can get reasonably distortion free images when shooting dead level with your subject. Then have fun shooting upward or downward to get some awesome creative distortion shots. Either way, if you need absolutely,.. every last thing in the frame,.. it will fit with this lens. If you are planning to do journalism, real estate or astrophotography, and can get reasonably close to your subject this lens is the one for you! Worth it. Every penny. Well done Sigma.
