OK, so the lighter isn’t perfect. In terms of focus the way a Camera would focus. I has that “manual pull” feeling to the way of focus.. BUT it is amazing for what it is.. one button to control everything and 5 saved profiles.. it’s super easy to change profiles and takes 5 minutes a lens to set up.. my biggest question that I had was when changing lenses how does it know where and when to start the focus on that lens? So after using it when you swap lenses you push and hold the button and it’ll auto calibrate point to point and then start focusing on where that profile should be focusing so it worked out perfect for switching lenses
For what's its worth, great to have my kit.

Used this on a documentary for a camera with PL lenses that had no operator or AC, worked as intended for indoor interviews, held talent in focus. After I made my own set of notes from the manual(s), setup was easy.

How does one reverse the motor direction so it can work on either side of the lens? Given the fixed Lidar direction.
As you have mentioned, because of the one sided nature of the lidar, the PDMOVIE MOTOR SMART Intelligent Focus Motor can not be repositioned to the right side of the lens.
