Is there a way to listen remotely? seeing the visual is cool, but I like to listen for rustles, pops, etc
Asked by: Philip
Currently, you cannot monitor AUDIO from the phone app. You can see a level meter, and even the actual waveform on the app, but to check actual audio, you would have to monitor through the pack via the headphone output. Checking for proper operation through the headphone jack while you are mic'ing up the talent should be standard operating procedure regardless.

Asked by: MJ
The TASCAM DR-10L Pro Field Recorder can be used with lavalier microphones that have a 3.5mm TRS male locking connector with standard (Sennheiser-style) wiring that can operate using up to 2.3 V of plug-in power. The Sanken COS-11D, Sennheiser MKE 2, Countryman B3 and B6, and Tram TR-50 are all compatible lavalier microphones which are available with a locking 3.5mm connector wired for Sennheiser transmitters that can also be used with the DR-10L recorder.

Will Tascam be making an XLR version of this ...

Will Tascam be making an XLR version of this model with 32 bit float?
Asked by: Andy
Probably not. The TASCAM DR-10L Pro Field Recorder is designed to be a miniature audio recorder with 32-bit float recording capabilities. Using the 3.5mm locking connector allows the recorder to be as small as a wireless microphone transmitter. If they were to build the same type of recorder with an XLR connector, it would be necessary to increase the size of the chassis, so it would not be nearly as compact in size. To address the needs for recording 32-bit float audio with XLR microphones, TASCAM offers the TASCAM Portacapture X6 32-Bit 6-Channel Multitrack Field Recorder (B&H # TAPORTX6), which measures 3 x 6.9 x 1.5". The X6 features two XLR inputs for external microphones or line-level audio and a 3.5mm aux input. It also includes a stereo mic for A/B and X/Y configurations. Additionally, like the DR-10L Pro, the X6 supports microSDXC cards up to 512GB, provides tiimecode support, and can be remotely controlled from a smartphone or tablet when used with the optional TASCAM AK-BT1 Bluetooth Adapter (B&H # TAAKBT1).

Can the unit be connected via bluetooth to a bluetooth enabled camera?
Asked by: Richard
Not directly. The bluetooth on the DR-10L Pro is for controlling the recorder via an app, as well as visually monitoring it connected via timecode to other compatible devices like an Atomos Blue, when using the AK-BT adapter connected to the DR-10L Pro. If your Atomos Blue is connected to a camera then this is one way of being able to sync the DR-10L Pro to it.
