OM SYSTEM M. Zuiko 150-400mm f/4.5 TC 1.25 IS PRO Lens will hold focus when zoom in or out while your camera focus button is hold half way or you are holding the focus lock button on the lens.

Are there any limitations if used with a Panasonic G9 or GH5 instead of an Olympus MFT camera?

Similar to my use of Panasonic IS lens on OM body. You have to choose either lens IS or body IS but you don't get sync IS from both at the same time which can add an additional stop of IS. I have found the lens only IS to be sufficient when using Panasonic lenses on my OM body.
