Atomos Ninja Reviews
Firmware issues and lack of support

After a Ninja V with an irreversible firmware update, I thought that I was making the right decision. Unfortunately the update on the Ninja 4K messed up the recording timing and sync on my ProRes recordings. Audio was no longer synced. Reached out to Atomos and they said there was no problem, despite all of my communications with them. Finally just about to give up and the next round fixed the problem that they broke on the previous version, silently.
Most unnecessarily complicated setup imaginable

It does what it's supposed to do if you need it, but I hope you don't need it. It's $1000+ (with the non-optional storage sold separately) of financial and emotional burden, and a few extra pounds on your shoulders. I read all the warnings before purchase, and was able to activate mine fine... except even then, it cannot Go Raw. I've decided to live with it.

Will a RED Komodo be compatible with the Ninja's 6K recording capabilities?
Asked by: Daniel
No, the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera only outputs up to 4096x2160 60p which is less than RED's internal 6144 x 3240 up to 40 fps in REDCODE RAW internally, so the 6k recording capabilities of the Atomos Ninja 5.2" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor cannot be utilized.

Does the Atomos Ninja include a single battery?
Asked by: Tim
The Atomos Ninja 5.2" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor does not include a battery, but does include the Atomos AtomX Sony L-Series Type Battery Eliminator, BH #ATOMDCA001, for connecting to an AC adapter. For a battery, the Genaray 2 x NP-F770 4400mAh Batteries & 2 x Compact Chargers Kit, BH #GENPF770CS, would be recommended.

Can the new Atomos Ninja record 4k at 50/60p for the Nikon Z7ii or Z6ii ?
Asked by: Sean
Yes, the Atomos Ninja 5.2" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor can record 4K resolutions up to 60P, however the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera can not output 4K footage over 29.97P, so you would only be able to record in 50/60P using the Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Camera with the monitor.
