Dry Lam E2050-R overview

  • 1Description

This 20.5" x 50 yd roll of Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue from Dry Lam is a general-purpose tissue used to mount photographs, ink-jet prints, and flat art onto mat boards, museum boards, and other types of materials for display. Because the dry mounting tissue has a low heat activation of 165°, it is ideal for RC, fiber-based prints, and materials that are sensitive to heat.

The dry mounting tissue maintains a neutral pH balance, which will not harm stored material over time. If a mounting board becomes frayed or damaged, the tissue can be reheated to 200°; therefore, the print is removed from the mounting board, so it can be remounted to new board.

Dry Lam E2050-R reviews

Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (20.5" x 50 yd Roll) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for fiber prints, great for RC I bought this roll for use mounting images for a solo show, split it with a fellow photographer. The tissue is great for both resin coated paper (silver gelatin and chromogenic paper) and also inkjet prints as they are easily melted and the tissue requires a lower melting temperature. However when trying to mount a fiber based silver gelatin print it was not strong enough to hold the edges down. I have tried using the press at different temperatures and dwell times. I have even pre-pressed the prints to be as flat as possible before attempting to mount. Takes a number of presses over several days and I was finally able to get things to stick. Not sure about the removable aspect, used at very high temperature and was unable to remove print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mount Tissue 20x50 Works like the other tissues, only less costly. The description claims that it is reversible, but I cannot attest to that. It does require a temperature higher than 185 Deg to bond. I used 250 for 90 secs and got a perfect mount. Otherwise, it works as one would expect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent bond; easy application We have found this bonding medium to work well and without bubbles or wrinkling provided that the heat is applied evenly and with care (no surprise there!)--this includes mounting archival prints as well as lighter papers.
