Canon ET-83C overview

  • 1Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Living without it? Living without it? Well no. Recently while on a photo shoot in another city I was doing some inside work that was not conducive to using the lens hood. Later when back home I was not able to find it. The chances of getting it back were nil.....Upon receiving the new hood, Murphy's Law kicked in and I found it in the bottom of my lens case!Send it back. No. I decided to keep it as a backup so that I would never be without it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OEM lens hood Had to buy a replacement lens hood after giving mine away to a guide in Belize! Anyway, you can't go wrong with this lens hood as it is specifically made to fit the Canon 100-400 L. One thing I did notice is that it fits really tight initially and probably needs to be used a few times to get broken in like my old one was. Other than that, no complaints. It's exactly like the original.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lens protector I use the lens hood to protect the lens. To enclose the subject that I want to photograph. To keep out unwanted light . The product does a very good job of taking care of these items. The disadvantage is that it falls off a little easily. The slightest jar often will cause it to come off of the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hood for my lens If you're looking for a lens hood for your 100-400mm Canon L lens this is it! One thing I really appreciated was the velour/felt lining. Makes it extra soft to the touch on the inside. I have taken many photos with this lens hood and has performed flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing beats the original I purchased a 3rd party lens hood replacement. As soon as I opened the item, I repackaged it & ordered the Canon replacement hood. Very happy with this purchase as well as B&H return policies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from would buy this product again good size and sturdy but must be careful that it is securely attached. Lost my last one out of a hot air balloon over the Serengetti, I will be attaching a string to my new one. : (
