The Atlas CFexpress Type B Card Reader from OWC / Other World Computing offers a high-speed workflow with fast transfer speeds. Equipped with one CFexpress 4.0 Type B slot, this reader takes advantage of the 40 Gb/s USB4 bus to deliver transfer speeds of up to 5000 MB/s. Compatible with Windows, Mac, Chrome, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, this card reader may be used with USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 ports and operates using bus power. An integrated LED indicator lets users confirm use status and non-skid rubber feet help keep it in place. Included is a 20" USB4 cable and a CFexpress Type A to Type B adapter, which is only to be used in this card reader and not in cameras.

Please note that to obtain maximum performance, Apple systems with M2, M1 Pro, and M1 Max processors should update to macOS 13.3 or later. Apple systems with an M1 chip will experience lower data transfer speeds due to M1 limitations. Thunderbolt 3 requires macOS 11.1 or later.

Mac Users BEWARE!! Windows emulation required for updates

No issue with B&H on this item, but big issue with OWC. This card reader requires Mac users to download and install Parallels and run emulation in Windows to update the firmware for the reader or the OWC CF Express A that I bought separately (Atlas Pro 480GB). The OWC FXR reader does not require this nonsense, so if you own a Mac and need the OWC reader that can truly be used with your Mac, that's the one to get - but it's slower. This reader does work and the cards work just fine, but if a firmware update is needed, you gotta take a trip down the Windows emulation rabbit hole. Completely ridiculous.

Works Great with My M3 MacBook Pro and Nikon Z9

This CF Express Type B card reader is excellent. I originally purchased the equivalent Sony model but learned that it wouldn't transfer as fast as this OWC one would on my M3 MacBook Pro. I use this to transfer images and videos from my Nikon Z9 and it works perfectly. If you're using Nikon cameras and a Mac for your work this is the card reader to buy.

Yes, the OWC Atlas CFexpress 4.0 Type B Card Reader does come with the CFexpress type A to B adapter.

The OWC Atlas CFexpress 4.0 Type B card reader will not work with CFexpress Type A. OWC does not make a Type A reader.
