What card reader is required / recommended for this card?
Asked by: David
Prograde's website claims that in order to get the rated upload and download speeds of the 4.0 cards, you must use a PCIe 4.0 rated card reader. From their website... "NOTE: Current CFexpress cameras will not be able to take advantage of the maximum speed of this card. Until CFexpress 4.0 cameras are introduced, the benefit of this card is tripling the speed of your workflow when downloading content with the ProGrade Digital PG05.6 USB 4.0 Reader", which currently only had one slot. If this is true, the card reader mentioned by the staff for the model PG05.5 dual slot reader, is only rated for PCIe 3.0 and would throttle down your R/W speeds to its rated speed. No tests are out at the moment to prove or disprove this, but I'm sure they will be popping up soon on the web.

Is this card compatible with Canon R5 and R3 cameras? Can the full card's potential be used with the R5 and R3?
Asked by: Giovanni
It is compatible and works in my R5 as it is backwards compatible technology. But its not going to magically cause the R5 to suddenly write faster than the older PCIe technology that was built into it originally. The sustained write speeds will continue to be as the previous 2.0 version cards did. You would only gain upload speed from card to computer, provided all hardware/connections in between, also supports PCIe 4.0. This will be the same for any current camera out at the time of writing this. Just like the inquiry for the Z9 elsewhere in these questions.

Is this card compatible with Nikon Z9 camera? Can the full card's potential be used with the Z9?
Asked by: Sergiy
There is no "yet" per the B&H response. The Z9 will never be able to reach 4.0 speeds since it is not a Gen 4 device. Last I checked there are actually no Gen 4 cameras from any manufacturer. No firmware upgrade will ever magically make a Gen 2 or Gen 3 device have Gen 4 PCIE bus lanes. Max throughput remains the same no matter how fast the card. The max you get with the previous cards is the max with these. The cards will only speed up downloads with a Gen 4 reader.
