Blackmagic Design URSA Cine EVF Overview

Add the high-resolution URSA Cine EVF to your Blackmagic Design URSA Cine 12K or PYXIS 6K camera for crisp, clear images, making shooting easy in any environment. The EVF features a 1920 x 1080 color OLED display supporting up to 60 fps to view your image with status information, frame guides, and even a built-in focus chart to help you achieve the sharpest focus. It mounts on top of your camera using the included bracket assembly, which includes a 15mm rod clamp, a 19mm cross rod, and two carbon fiber 15mm rods. A tally light allows you to clearly see when the camera is rolling.

The built-in proximity sensor switches on the EVF only when it's in use to save power, and it features a 4-element glass diopter that provides a range of adjustments. The EVF connects to the URSA Cine 12K or PYXIS 6K using a USB-C cable, which is also used for firmware updates. Also included are two different rubber eyecups to give you options for comfort and size.

NOTE: The Blackmagic URSA Cine Handle is required for mounting the EVF onto Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K and Blackmagic PYXIS 6K cameras.

  • Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF cameras

Blackmagic Design URSA Cine EVF Reviews

Worth every penny

Yes, it's really expensive, especially when you are buying it for your Pyxis 6k. BUT! Wow, what a difference it makes. There is a reason these things are still the standard. I just wish there was a way to strap it to my head instead of trying to use that tiny monitor on my SteadiCam!

Amazing piece of gear for what it is intended.

This EVF works very well and looks great through the eye piece for what is intended for. NO concerns there. It'll work great on the Ursa 12K or the Pyxis6k(which I tried it with). I could not find any information on the net about if the actual EVF can be mounted in different ways other than the dovetail system it comes with. It cannot. I wanted to mount it differently than the rod it comes with, and unfortunately I could not, so it is not for me. If you plan to use it as intended, it'll work fantastic.. also adds another point of contact for stability when handheld.

Will this only work with these two BMD cameras? ...

Will this only work with these two BMD cameras? Or will it work with other cameras with a USB-C port?
Asked by: Cine
In a YT interview with Cine D, Blackmagic confirmed there are no technical limitations, as long as the source (in this case, a camera) can provide the correct USB DisplayPort AltMode and power. This would be great news for the entire community, as the previous Blackmagic Ursa EVF found an expanded user base with 3rd-Party mods. This EVF being based on well-known standards could make it a real winner!
