Two ultra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements are also featured to further control various aberrations and distortion for great sharpness and resolution. Its durable physical construction is dust- and moisture-sealed with ASC (Air Sphere Coating), SSC (Super Spectra Coating), and Fluorine coatings for use in any environment and to prevent ghosting and flares.

What is VCM ? And What is better STM or VCM of Canon L Series Lens Focus Performance?
Asked by: Kalpesh
The Voice Coil Motor is used to adjust the position of the lens elements, which changes the focus of the lens. Compared to other motor types, VCMs are faster, more precise, and consume less power. The Canon 35mm STM lens has an f1.8 aperture while the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM has an f1.4 aperture, L series quality glass and it is weather sealed. They are not truly comparable lenses due to the price and features.

Anyone seen any test shots demonstrating astigmatism and coma distortion on this lens? Astrophotographers want to know.

The Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens (Canon RF) is a much sharper lens then the STM version and has less distorting. It is very new. So, more real world tests need to be done.
