A bright, versatile prime for FUJIFILM G-mount mirrorless medium format cameras, the Speedmaster 80mm f/1.6 Lens from Mitakon Zhongyi delivers a full-frame equivalent focal length of 63mm, making this lens's perspective ideal for captures that include much of your subject's background. Its impressive f/1.6 maximum aperture allows it to perform exceptionally in low-light conditions and enables flattering, dream-like bokeh. The optical design uses one ultra-high refractive index element and four high refractive index elements to produce well-corrected imagery, void of chromatic and spherical aberrations. The lens's manual focus design suits working with subjects as close as 1.6' away.

Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 80mm f/1.6 Reviews
Almost Great!

This lens is quite similar to the Speedmaster 65mm F1.4. Center resolution of 80mm at 1.6 is similar to center resolution of 65mm at 1.4. I prefer the slightly shorter and wider form factor of the 80mm f1.6. Both lenses perform similar to the Voigtlander 50mm F1.0 lens while it is in 35mm format mode. Because of the minimal sliver of focal plane, you really can't focus any of them wide open on a living subject. The Samyang SP f1.2 series is better in all aspects because the Fringer adapter help you find focus at F1.2, and instantly changes the aperture to F1.6 to actually capture the photo. The Samyang SP f1.2 series is also sharper wide open then the Speedmaster series. If you need corner to corner sharpness, buy a GF lens.

Outstanding Manual Focus Lens (1/3 the price of GF 80 1.7)
Heavy yes, I've been setting it up and practice the manual focus with focus peaking on the GFX 50sii, and yes - it works very well.
As a medium format manual lens, it will be as fast as your ability to focus. Very shallow field of view, I start out at F2 (Mediocr light) and go up to F5.6 or F8 depending on amount of light. The more I use it the more comfort and keepers I'll get. Most of the newer lenses I have (Even Native Lenses), it will take me 3 to 4 months to feel really comfortable with. Hand held is OK, and I use a Black Rapid system to achieve a comfortable outing with this heavier setup. Good for 4 - 5 hours for me, but as time goes on, will increase.

Yes, the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 80mm f/1.6 Lens (FUJIFILM G) has a built-in retractable lens hood that helps to block stray light from reaching the lens, preventing flare and ghosting. Most lenses use a removeable hood, but some lenses have a built-in hood instead.
