Merging Technologies MERGING+ANUBIS SPS Pro RAVENNA/AES67 Audio Interface

Incorporating the company's Swiss expertise in high-end analog and digital technology, Merging Technologies MERGING+ANUBIS SPS Pro is a compact audio interface that can serve as a powerful RAVENNA-network system controller and interface, with the added ability to link directly to a computer DAW. This Seamless Protection Switching (SPS) Pro variant has been developed specifically to address the demands of broadcast facilities that depend on an IP infrastructure. Featuring no-compromise ST2022-7 Class-C and NMOS compliance, it provides an extremely efficient and cost-effective solution for AoIP stream monitoring and management for demanding audio professionals.

MERGING+ANUBIS SPS Pro is unique in its configurability to perform your mission without changing the hardware. Included is the company's new 32-bit dual preamp topology, high-fidelity headphone amps, D/A converters derived from years of audiophile experience, all combined with a powerful low-latency mixing engine evolved from 25 years of DAW design. The interface is designed in Switzerland, where it is assembled and tested to the same exacting standards as the company's line of flagship products, and is intended to deliver the same exceptional level of performance and reliability.

SPS Pro Features
  • ST2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching: The interface features two network ports for ST2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching compliance.
  • Sample Rates: From 44.1 to 192 kHz (PCM) at a 32-bit resolution.
  • NMOS: MERGING+ANUBIS SPS is capable of registering itself onto an NMOS server and complying with connection requests from a compliant NMOS Network Manager such as VideoIPath from Nevion (NMOS IS-04 and NMOS IS-05).
  • SMPTE ST2110: Merging Technologies has implemented ST2110 and AES67. MERGING+ANUBIS SPS meets the demanding requirements of JT-NM and is self-certified.
  • RAVENNA/AES67 Built-In: Using RAVENNA/AES67, MERGING+ANUBIS SPS is able to flexibly connect to every single input and output across standard networks, using off-the-shelf network equipment.
  • DC- or POE-Powered, or Both: Protect your production with audio-network seamless switching and power switching. Connect MERGING+ANUBIS SPS to DC and POE power supplies. Should one fail, MERGING+ANUBIS SPS will switch to the other seamlessly.
  • Switch Mode: MERGING+ANUBIS SPS can be used in switch mode instead of redundant ST2022-7 mode, removing the necessity to have a network switch in scenarios where a DAW simply needs to be connected to the interface for mobile recording.
  • Accessible and Controllable Remotely: Anubis' configuration, presets, and features are completely accessible remotely for very fast troubleshooting and deployment.
Key Features
  • Ethernet with Ravenna interface allows asynchronous data transfer with computer audiosystems and allows cable runs up to 333' with a Cat 5e / Cat 6 cable.
  • Use it as a central hub of a highly scalable and expandable network. Multiple MERGING+ANUBIS or Ravenna-/AES67-compliant interfaces can be connected to the network, and Anubis can remotely and locally control, mix, and monitor multichannel content, and route those I/Os.
  • Standalone operations. MERGING+ANUBIS SPS can serve as a multichannel analog converter or headphone amp when disconnected from the computer.
  • Full 32-bit signal path from analog I/O, via Mixer.
  • TFT LCD capacitive multitouch screen.
  • Web-based remote control accessible via smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  • Rotary control knob allows easy adjustment of volume level. The rotary knob provides access to a comprehensive and intuitive menu within the MERGING+ANUBIS software.
  • FPGA-based DSP mixer with effects and ultralow latency for performer foldback/cues.
  • Up to 4 x 128 x 8 mix engines.
  • Redundant power supply with PoE and DC power.
Two Microphone Preamplifiers

  • Dual Gain 32-bit AD circuitry uses two A/D converter per input to expand headroom and lower noise floor.
  • Split Channel feature enables you to independently control FOH and Monitoring Microphone Gains without any conflict. You can also record a duplicate of the input channel at a different input gain level (for backup or peak safety recording).
Instrument/Line Inputs
  • Two instrument/line inputs on front panel. Can be used for Hi-Z instruments or Line inputs.
  • Dynamic Range (A-weighted): 136 dB typical.
  • Independent gain levels for instrument and line inputs.
  • Dual gain and split-channel feature as above.
Monitoring
  • Two individual stereo main balanced XLR outputs with mono, dim, mute, level control, and mixing possibilities. Can be used for Main monitor set.

Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB GE Adapter for Macs

The Avid Pro Tools | Carbon audio interface for music production has been described as a creative game changer; its innovative use of eight onboard HDX processors and a custom FPGA enable you to track and monitor with near-zero latency when using AAX DSP plug-ins. Because Carbon connects to your Mac over Ethernet using a proprietary version of AVB (Audio Video Bridging, aka IEEE 802.1), you’ll have to use an AVB capable Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet adapter if your computer doesn’t have onboard Ethernet. The Avid Qualified Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB adapter is your single-adapter solution for connecting your Mac with Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 3 ports to the Carbon interface.

Avid-Compliant Ethernet Adapter - Connect to Other Devices On a Network
Beyond its support for the Pro Tools | Carbon interface, the Sonnet Thunderbolt AVB Adapter enables you to add your Mac as an endpoint in an AVB network and connect to other devices such as audio interfaces, mixers, plug-in processors, personal monitor stations, stage boxes, speakers, speaker processors, and others. Audio Video Bridging support makes the adapter perfect for use in pro audio and video applications where synchronization of data streams is critical.
Simple Setup - Drivers and Configuration App Built Into macOS
The basic drivers that support the Sonnet Thunderbolt Adapter are included in macOS. Basic configuration takes place in Network control panel, while configuration for use in AVB applications is handled in the Audio MIDI Setup application and control software.
