why doesn't this work with Nikon F mount even with a proper adapter?

In order to use the TTArtisan 75mm f/1.5 Swirly Bokeh Lens (M42) and other manual lenses with an adapter on Nikon F cameras, you have to go into the Custom Menu A1 and change to Release instead of Focus. Ensure you're in AF-C mode, and then you can release the shutter.
