What is the advantage of using the sandisk destop ssd B&H #SASSD8TBDT which has an AC power adapter? faster?
The main benefit of using the SanDisk 8TB Extreme USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, B&H # SAE618TB, over the desktop version will be portability; the maximum theoretical speed of the drives is identical. Beyond that, it is purely a personal preference based on what best fits your specific workflow.
