Neopan-400 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Film! Truly a great film, wonderful tones with crisp, tight grain. Very flexible in many different developers, I suggest following Fuji's instructions for agitation, giving a full minute of moderate agitation, followed by an easy 5-10 seconds at the start of each minute. This technique, especially with more dilute developers as well as Xtol, solves the potential for uneven development in open skys, and serves to moderating the contrast away from a harsh, gritty look. Remember, its Not Tri-x, so don't process it the same way,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fuifilm Neopan Professional 400 I shot this film with a Yashica FR-1 during my recent triple to Europe. I am more than happy with the quality of the film once I got it developed and printed (on silver halide paper). Despite it being a 400 speed film, there is very fine grain, almost invisible in a 4x6 print. The dynamic range is incredible (which is why I, like many others, still love shooting film). My prints turned out very sharp and detailed. The blacks are deep and dark, and highlights are well controlled. I hope film like this never gets taken off the market, it is the best!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Benchmark. The Benchmark by which all others be judged. In my career to date, I shot over two hundred and fifty thousand rolls of this film and counting as I still shoot film for myself (in Garry Winogrand proportions). I have processed this film in everything known to man, I processed this out the trunk of a car in freezing conditions, in the desert heat and dust. The film dries flat, is thick, scratch resistant, is sharp as hell, tonally rich, consistent beyond belief, and the accuracy from this film makes it the only film which is not romantically grainy which makes for the ideal permanent archival record for documentary photography. Exhibition grade 20x24 and higher prints are easy from this film. Neopan can easily be rated between 200-1000 ISO and can even be forced to speak at 100 right up to 1600 with relative ease in comparison to any other 400 ISO film on the market. I find that he sharpest and richest tonality is from Rodinal. The fact that Fuji Pulled the 100ft roll bulk packs from sale makes it financially more difficult to shoot film for me but the film -pre-rolled is priced similarly to that of eastern european films that it makes it reasonably economical to use when bought from B&H in large quantities. I just wish they would bring back the bulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Film Very little grain visibility for speed. Clean shadows, silky hilights, good latitude. This film scans well for digital prints, with broader tonal range than digital capture. I have used this film for years, and it is always consistent and reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around black and white film! First of all, let me just say I love these film! Great for around, especially my passion for street photography! you get great texture and right amount of grain to give it a special film feel that makes the picture stand out from digital. I know you can shoot with digital and convert them to B&W with one click and don't get me wrong I do that myself sometimes too, but digital files even the ones produced by the most expensive digital slr will not match prints that came from a Leica m4, and m6 with these film. I love my M9 but there are times I rather have the m6 or m7 in my hand. At the current price, I'd stock up on these before Fuji stops making them. Give it a try and you will be happy with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just buy loads, no regrets I'm not an expert on all the quirks when it comes to b&w processing, but after trying out Tri-x, Delta 400 and TMax 400, Fuji Neopan 400 stands out as KING, plain and simple! The tonality is awesome (as is Acros btw) and you get minmal grain to boot, the other 400's are imo not even close in 35mm. Neopan 400 render red colors dark in a very pleasing way, no more pale lips on portraits. It's pushable, pullable, very forgiving and you can use just about every developer out there with good results (I am currently using Tetenal Ultrafin). This film really has some personality going for it, in addition to the technical qualities. Get it while it's still available. Because of the way Fuji handles itself these days, I'm not even sure if this film will be available next week. - This is a shame, off course, because the product is simply awesome. While writing this review, Fuji has decided to discontinue several films (color mostly). They ditched this film in 120 last year. I am currently bying as much as I can, before they go crazy and cancel this one too. (getting a bit nervous these days with all the discontinue-talk floating around). As long as it is available though, I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product I ordered this film to use for my photography class and didn't really know what to expect. After using the film and developing it, I am really happy with how my photos turned out.The tonal range was great and I was able to make prints which turned out better than I expected. I would definitely recommend this film especially for nature photos. Although I used it to take some portraits, there is still a slight visible grain, so if you don't like grainy photos like I do, I would recommend choosing a film with a lower ISO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 400 speed B&W on the market I push this film out to 3200asa, this is probably beyond the limit of the film. But I had to go to 3200 to get the shoot which I did. Grain is well controlled as is contrast. Whilst being a modern film in every way, sharpness, speed grain, it has an old school look when printed. Now impossible to find in Australia, so I am trying Kodak Tri-X 400. I do not like the modern Kodak films like TMax 400. Also scans well in dedicated silide scanner when developed in D76. I have tried other processes and other films nothing scans this well. As I said the best 400 speed B&W film I have used.
