The First Godox Mini TTL Flash
The iT30Pro S offers automatic and manual controls and works well for photographers of all experience levels, including beginners or those working with smaller-scale shoots. It arrives as the brand's first TTL flash in a mini format—measuring only 2.6 x 1.9 x 1.8". The iT30Pro S has a guide number of 49.2' at ISO 100 and flash durations from 1/1000 to 1/30,000 sec. You can also manually adjust the flash's output from 1/128 to full power to achieve greater lighting precision.
WN Switch
Effortlessly toggle between W and N modes using an integrated WN switch placed on the side of the flash body. The W mode enables the wide-angle diffuser to extend the flash range, while providing even lighting at a close distance. When selecting the N mode, the flash maintains high light intensity over a longer distance, while the diffuser is off.
Built-In Rechargeable Battery
After charging with the flash's included USB-C cable, the iT30Pro S's built-in 7.2V, 900mAh lithium battery provides up to 560 full power flashes with a 1.5 sec recycling time.
2.4 GHz X Wireless Radio System
The Godox 2.4 GHz X radio system is incorporated into the iT30Pro S for transmitter and receiver functionality. The iT30Pro S functions as a transmitter unit for select Godox flash units, while also working as a receiver unit for the separately available XPro, X2, and X3 transmitters. This compatibility with Godox's X series flashes or transmitters enables more functionality and diverse setups. The iT30Pro S wireless system has a range of 328', featuring four groups and 32 channels.

The iT30Pro S has an intuitive touchscreen interface and onboard controls for easy and quick access to the flash settings. Indicators are available on the LCD panel to inform the remaining battery level.

Small and mighty with a catch

I was def surprised by the build quality of this flash. As soon as I pulled it out the box I could tell it was premium. It literally feels like a mini Godox v860. I also have the Godox im30 which is an analog flash that was pretty good but the new it30 is a step up as far as the build is concerned. The new interface is nice, I certainly like that it’s digital. You can interact either with the touch screen or the dial and buttons which gives the user a choice on how to use it. One thing that I was not sure about when I took this out of the box was if it could also double as a trigger. It does look like you can use it as a trigger but the reason I gave it 4 stars is the instructions very clear on how to set this up and more importantly what current flashes it can be used as a trigger for. I have all old Godox flashes like the ad300 pro, V1, and 860iii. As far as I can tell they are not compatible to be trigger by the new flash. IF THIS IS BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. If not that means you may have to buy the newer Godox flashes like the v100 or the new Godox ad 200 pro ii. Overall as a standalone flash however this does everything you l’d expect from a small compact flash. The USB-C charging is a nice bonus over the im30 and the new it30 feels just as compact with not adding a lot of extra weight. TTL is also a nice touch if you don’t want to deal with dialing in the flash manually. Personally I like manual more but some other will swear by TTL so they’ll be happy. I’m using this on Sony with small primes, if you are using larger Sony lenses you may experience a shadow being cast from the lens. It would be great if in a future version we can get tilting version to do bounce flash.

I bought this primarily because of its small size and good power - I wanted to use it on my Sony RX1RII camera. It works fine on that camera - with one major issue: it blocks the pop-up EVF and you have to use the rear screen to frame your shots (almost impossible in bright sunlight). The flash mounts very close to the camera. I also tried the flash on my Sony A7RV and again, it works fine - but this time the large lenses on this camera blocks some of the light. To solve these problems you need a flash extension cord.

Does the TCM feature work for external flashes… I know it works for the internal, but I question if it works for external flash

The TCM feature on GODOX transmitters will work with external flashes as long as they are first fired in TTL mode; then select the TCM feature from the Godox iT30Pro S TTL Mini Flash for Sony (Black) transmitter, and it will lock in the last TTL exposure and convert it to a manual setting, thus stopping the TTL feature from changing power based on the subject's distance to the camera.

The Falcam F22 & F38 Quick Release Camera Cage for Sony a6700 should not interfere with the Godox iT30Pro S TTL Mini Flash for Sony when mounted on the hot shoe.
