No, the Synology DS925+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure is not compatible with the Synology DX517 5-Bay Expansion Enclosure. The DS925+ uses the Synology DX525 5-Bay Expansion Enclosure, B&H # SYDX525.

The website now states they will accept third party with possible warranty limitations. Look for the enterprise versions of the Synology HDD, they have closer specs to the best competitor.

The Synology DS925+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure and other 2025 enclosures from Synology no longer restrict third party drives with the latest firmware update. Still, the Synology compatibility guide only recommends and verifies Synology branded drives at this time.
