question

what is the difference between Vb and V version?
Asked by: Linfeng
According to Alan Gordon, The Mark Vb has all the features of the Mark V plus new markings on the Aspect Ratio ring, making it easier to read for both film and video use. We also eliminated the 1/2 video window and replaced it with the current video chip standard of 2/3 . Film sizes and video formats are color-coded for quick reading.

Can I use this Viewfinder with the Sony F5 or Canon 300?
Asked by: Jeralyn
The Alan Gordon Enterprises Mark Vb Director's Viewfinder (B&H# ALDVFM5B) does not fit onto a camera but rather is used as a standalone viewfinder. As such, it may be used while filming with any camera including the Sony PMW-F5 CineAlta Digital Cinema Camera (B&H# SOPMWF5) or Canon EOS C300 Mark III Digital Cinema Camera Body (EF Lens Mount) (B&H #CAC3003EF) in order to get an idea of the framing of the image in 16mm, 35mm, and other sizes of film or sensor formats.

Does it have any adjustments for people who wear glasses?

Yes, the metal ring between the rubber eyecup and the body of the viewfinder is a so called "focusing ring". Once you set it up to your desired diopter (there are no markings, you do it by the eye), I suggest that you gaffer tape it together with rubber eyecup because it has a tendency to fall off and it is a very important part of the device. I always keep a spare in my bag!

Would this work for a bmpcc 4k? So I could do framing and see how various lenses would look? Both speed boosted lenses and native mft lenses.
Asked by: Michael
Mark Vb has a dial for Super16mm format lenses from 10.5mm-125mm. I haven’t tested it and compared with my BMPCC4K. I’m using the viewfinder on my Alexa shoot for location scouting and camera setups
