Pelican 1490 Overview

The 1490CC1 Computer Case with Lid Organizer and Shock Absorbing Tray (Black) is a watertight, dustproof and corrosion proof case with a slim attache design. It is designed to carry a laptop computer with a screen up to 15" and accessories. The case has a built-in purge valve for changes in altitude or temperature and locking latches with keys. It is carried by a padded folding handle and a removable, shoulder strap.

This case has a shock absorbing tray and computer lid organizer included.

I ordered one that was too small; the exchange process was easy but the bigger case is missing the air regulator valve so that's the only reason it's not getting 5 stars

I've used a 1490 for years to protect my drum mics, however I now have more mics and I can't fit them all into just one case so I bought another because they are that good. I know it says this is a computer case but it is the perfect size and depth to hold my microphones. Don't forget to check out the strap for this case (not included).

Exactly as described in specs, Q&A, Reviews. Versatile Spacious Tough Heavy Upgraded my laptop for new volunteer position that requires portable office. This case accommodates everything, including electronics, documents. Didn't realize how heavy it is, until I picked it up. Likely add wider, padded, shoulder strap, from camera gear stash. Looking forward to using this as portable studio, especially video, which requires so many toys. Many toys require desk, table, instead of bag. Long experience with Pelican gives me Total Confidence. Signed up on their web for discounts .. No Serial Number to Register. No Problem. Lifetime Warranty.

The case is being used to protect my $6k MacbookPro in transit. The waterproof feature and customizable foam are killer Knowing that the computer can be accidentally dropped in a pool or at sea, during a party and be undamaged is a relief in itself. The case permits housing the charger, cables, mouse, and hard-drives, as well. It will require some patience to cut the foam to your size specs. I used a olfa blade knife.

I ordered this for my laptop, the foam can be adjusted to fit it perfectly and with the locks and the hard exterior, I feel as long as it doesn't fall off a bridge my laptop will be protected, I am very happy and content with my purchase, and would recommend pelican cases to anyone who wants maximum protection for most typical use circumstances.

The Pelican 1490 product photo shows convoluted foam inside the lid, and pick-n-pluck foam in the bottom. However, one of the customer photos shows organizer pockets in the lid, and what appears to be a different foam in the bottom, with a laptop strap. Which configuration is it?

Yes, it is. And actually, it is kind of a nice strap, long and comfortable, that I use it with other cases and bags I have. It is easy to unstrap and put back on. As for the case itself, NOTHING, absolutely nothing as good as this on the market! If you don't mind the bulk, but like the protection, yes, best case out there.
