  • 1Description

Photographers Formulary Print Frames are made at the Formulary from high quality oak, with a felt-lined, hinged back board for print inspection.

Pressure clips hold your negative secure while printing.

All frames are made one inch bigger than the size quoted. (i.e. an 8x10" frame actually has a glass size of 9x11" so that you get a full 8x10" print).

Frames are stained black.

Photographers' Formulary 07-2010 reviews

16x20" Contact Print Frame is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Photographers' Formulary 16x20 Photographers' Formulary 16x20 Contact Print Frame THIS CONTRACT FRAME DOESN'T WORK FOR LARGE PRINTS!!!! THE IMAGE THAT I PRINTED, 11X14 WAS OUT OF FOCUS IN DIFFERENT AREAS BECAUSE THERE WASN'T ENOUGH PRESSURE ON THE BACK OF THE FRAME. THIS FRAME ONLY HAS CLIPS ON THE OUTER EDGES AND NOT IN THE MIDDLE FOR WERE IT SHOULD BE, TO GIVE THAT EXTRA PRESSURE WERE IT'S MOST CRITICAL. THIS FRAME NEEDS TO BE RE-EVALUATED. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT UNTIL IT'S FIXED!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would Recommend... I am a professional photographer who is taking an alternative photography class. I tried using just two pieces of glass and clamping them together to get the compression needed. It worked, but hard to view the image mid process to check on it. Getting this split back contact frame was a great choice in size and convenience. I like the size because I can do two prints at the same time, or just one larger print. With the split back I can view the image without it all moving because it is held down with the other side that is still clamped. I like the ease of opening and closing. Yes the clamps are tough, so you want to watch your fingers to not pinch them! Overall very sturdy construction and worth the price. I would recommend this to a fellow photographer or alternative print process people :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for me The back has 6 clips to secure the image into the frame (2 on each horizontal and one on each vertical - short edge) which keep it tight for exposures. The clips are so tight I worry about snapping my fingers, but I guess that's good for keeping the negative secure against the receiving paper. Works great, looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good design solution for contact printing The contact print frames I've purchased from B&H are a very good low cost solution for the photographer who wants to experiment with and produce alternative process photo prints, using a reliable and effective print exposure frame.
