The matte black KM 184 MT Microphone from Neumann is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone that offers premium Neumann sound that's both open and musical. It is great for solo instruments, ensemble, and spot miking.

The KM 180 series microphones feature an output stage based on the KM 100. Transformerless circuitry and balanced output result in high-output gain with a very low noise floor and no coloration to the output signal.

The KM 184 is powered via +48V phantom power. Its 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response provides flexibility for use in a wide range of recording situations. The KM 184's cardioid polar pattern provides a targeted pickup area and handles sound-pressure levels up to 138 dB, allowing fairly close miking of instruments.

Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern effectively isolates signal source.
KM 100-Based Output Stage
The KM 184 features the same output stage electronics as the KM 100. Transformerless circuitry and quiet balanced output design ensure a clean, high-gain output signal without any coloration. The KM 184 is powered via +48V phantom power, and its 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response provides flexibility for use in a wide range of recording situations. The KM 184 can handle sound-pressure levels up to 138 dB, allowing fairly close miking of instruments.
Compact Rugged Construction
The slim design and rugged construction allow easy microphone placement while remaining roadworthy.

LA Guitar Quartet brought these for their show. I was amazed at how easy it was to get their sound through the PA( Allen&Heath GL2400 mixer, QSC amps, JBL speakers). The sound can best be described as the LA Guitar Quartet only louder. Whish I had some for my own studio.

I am using this to Mic an upright piano and this is the richest microphone I've ever heard that didn't use tubes. Only bad thing is that the provided stand adapter immediately scratched the surface.

Wonderful Microphone

We've had this microphone for years and use it almost exclusively for VO in a sound booth environment. It receives it's phantom power from a mixer and it's all ultimately used in a HD video production/non-linear post production facility. The microphone is quiet, very responsive and picks up the most subtle nuances of whatever or whoever we're recording. It's capacity to handle high pressure sound levels is also impressive. I highly recommend it.

I collect and test mics as a hobby. I'm a professor, former TV executive and audio studio owner. I was at the Neumann/Sennheiser factory in Germany and saw the mic being made. I observed it in regular use by the Berlin Philharmonic. My use is for voice--exceptional.@

I am using this mic for a home recording studio, for live trumpet. The sound is great, and the mic isolates well from the rest of the room and can handle the directional decibels of the instrument. Solid construction and super sound.

Great addition to any recording studio, pro or home. I've found it particularly good for recording acoustic guitar.
