Auralex Wedgies Overview

Recommended as a minimum treatment for home theaters with limited wall space, the 24-pack of Studiofoam Wedgies from Auralex are one-foot square, 2"-thick Studiofoam acoustic tiles that offer a solution for spot-treating sound studios, home listening rooms, iso booths, and more.

The tiles provide slightly more wedges per square foot than 2" Studiofoam Wedges and feature a surface area maximized for greater exposure to sound waves. This provides an effective solution for flutter-echo problems, and when spread apart, the tiles yield added sound diffusion off of their exposed edges.

Steeper wedges maximize the surface area exposed to sound waves
Helps solve small flutter-echo problem areas
Class-B flame retardancy
Will not crumble with age

Auralex Wedgies Reviews

Great, but...

It's a great product but they really need to share more info on how to adhere them. These DO NOT come with adhesive. Spray adhesive is a no for me because we have pets and we also don't have any windows in the area where the wedgies are being installed. Too messy and too many fumes for me. Double sided 3M stuff does NOT work on these either (no matter how strong they claim to be). Best thing to do is buy double loop velcro and Krazy Glue the first piece that goes on the foam otherwise it will not stick.

Still buying.

This is my one issue with B&H and I'm not sure it's even with them. The squares are small. I'm in the process of spending uber dollars on these things. I need 5 more boxes at least.

We turned a room in our basement into a sound booth, these helped really finish the job. Even made a portable wall I can move around by velcoing some of these on a piece of foam core. Pro quality.

To isolate room disturbances just mend these poodles on a surrounding home made chamber and you will get rid of all extra noice.

Lightweight, easy to put up (although they don’t come with any adhesives), and dampen sound quite well.

It works as described, it had improved the quality of my recordings, consider 96 pack in case you have to cover big area in the room, also need to buy a fixing accessories such as spray.

Seems to do the trick, reasonably priced, and 24 of these things go a pretty long way.

Not sound proof

So I feel as though a lot of people that are newer to audio principles sometimes come to the conclusion that acoustic foam panels are sound proof. They are not. What they do is dampen certain often unwanted frequencies. It generally helps for tightening up recording, and making it so that monitoring is more accurate. These do that and do it fairly well. A good addition to reduce problematic room reverberation and reflections. I like them.

If I have four talent booths I would like these in will one pack of these help for each booth? Are these something I can put a couple on a wall to help with the sound or does the whole wall need to be covered?
Asked by: Brandon
The Auralex Studiofoam Wedgies (Charcoal Gray, 24-Pack) provide 24 square feet of acoustic treatment coverage per pack. The amount of treatment required in each use case depends on the space and how reflective it is in general. Depending on the size of the booths in question, one pack should usually be enough for each, or could perhaps even be split between two booths.

I believe they only come in this one color. In addition to being effective, they look very cool.

Are these actual Auralex brand panels? They're about a 1/4 of the price at other retailers.
Asked by: Todd
There are no markings on the panels themselves, but I trust B&H. I have used them to wrap my multimedia room and they work great. I did not buy the Auralex adhesive, and used a spray can of 3M Super 77 (from Home Depot) and it works great.

Do they have to be placed edge-to-edge? Is there any problem or advantage of leaving some space between them? If it's ok, how much space is good?
Asked by: Morgan
Acoustic panels such as the Auralex Studiofoam Wedgies do not have to be placed edge to edge when mounted in a space where acoustic treatment is required. Placement strategy for acoustic treatment depends on how much dampening of reflection is required in the specific space and treating the surfaces that create these reflections.

How do these attach to wall?

How do these attach to wall?
Asked by: Kelley
Greetings Kelley, There are a few options for adhering them to the wall. FoamTak Spray adhesive and TubeTak Pro adhesive applied with a caulk gun. These options are permanent. For a more temporary application you could use the adhesives to glue the Wedgies to a cardboard or poster board as a backing. Then hang them as a group on picture frame hooks by carefully piercing the backing. They can also be hung with finishing nails tacked carefully through the Studiofoam at an angle without going all the way through. As mentioned by a community member velcro strips can be used but sometimes fail in sticking to the Studiofoam. Best regards, Kevin
