Pentax 37377 overview

  • 1Description

The Pentax Remote Control F infrared remote control is handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, for self-portraits, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure.  Certain cameras feature a built-in 3-second delay in the shutter's release after being signaled by this remote. The remote control uses a CR1620 3v battery.

Remote Control F is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised. Perfect for anytime you want to avoid camera shake or want to be in the shot.No manual to explain how it works with Bulb and video so had to find that out myself. No manual to show how to replace battery but easy enough to figure out. (Remove two screws in rear, carefully take apart, remove and replace old button cell, carefully put back together, replace both screws).Excellent product, short range (as advertised). With some cameras, shooting mode has to be changed to remote mode before it would work. Other cameras, not so.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Lanyard Holes No Battery Replacemt I agree with the prior reviewer about some of the product features and size. Basically, this remote does what it's supposed to. However, there are no loop-holes for attaching a lanyard. Nor have I found a way to replace the battery, or to determine if the battery is low. If you are in the field and dependent upon steady tripod shots, this product is too easy to lose and may lose power when you need it most. So, just buy some extras. (...so many DSLRs and SLRs no longer supply old-fashioned screw-in shutter release buttons.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Remote has to be in front of the camera The only thing I don't like about this remote is that, because it is infrared, it has to be in front of the camera. You cannot use it behind the camera. I use this remote with my K-x to get long-shutter landscape (waterfall) shots, and for using the in-camera HDR. The in-camera HDR does not work with the timer. Therefore, in order to have a perfectly still camera, it is best to use this remote. I only give it four stars because I always have to reach ahead of the camera to use the remote. It is a pain in the ___ to have to do that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost too small. Its small size was the biggest surprise for me! I even overlooked it in the shipping box's packing material... This little unit works reliably well. Battery can be replaced compared to its sealed sibling, but you need a Philips screw driver to open the housing. In conjunction with my 645D when using (B)ulb mode it actually works like being in T mode, i.e. shutter opens on first press and closes on second press on the release button. I wish it had an eyelet in order to connect a lanyard. Overall I am happy with this device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple, does the job Pretty simple, push the button and the camera's shutter is triggered. I use a Pentax K-7. One thing I was pleasently surprised by is that the remote can control the camera while in Video mode. I had not found conclusive information on whether it worked for video mode or not. Curiously, the red light on the camera flashes when NOT recording, and it is completely off when recording. A little unintuitive, but as long as it works I am happy. One disappointment, the remote still has no lanyard or hook, so the small size means it is easy to lose. This is my second one. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Apparently it's WATERPROOF Amazing! This little guy was in my pants pocket when it went through the wash. Only after the entire cycle when I removed my clothes did I find it. ...and it still worked !!!! wow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does its job! Works fine and fits nicely in the battery grip of my K10d. Nice to always have it with you in case you forget an actual shutter release cable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Small Wireless Device This very little leightweight device is great for doing self-portraits with Pentax cameras. I used in on a National Park trip to take shots of us on mountaintops or at the cam. It is so small and lightweight that it easily fits into my camera holster-bag, so I can schlep it up steep mountains. 4 instead of 5 stars because I have only owned it for 4 weeks and cannot assess long-term reliability and performance.
