The G2380 fluid head, is ideally suited to both lightweight ENG and home video camcorders, enabling professional, smooth panning and solid locking. The G2380 will also work well with long telephoto lenses for still photography following a moving subject, making it easier to achieve one of the most exciting photographic effects, with the subject sharp against a blurred, streaked background.

The fluid effect video head uses friction to smooth the movements, adjustable on both the pan and the tilt planes to suit the weight of the camera. Each of the movements can also be locked solid by simply tightening the knob in the center of the friction control.

The design of the head allows it to be set up for either left or right handed operation. It includes a dual direction, quick release plate to assist in easy fixing of the camera from the front or rear with a secondary safety catch to protect your camera.

Innovative Design
The innovative design of the G2380 is much more than cosmetic. It has been painstakingly developed to eliminate all unnecessary weight, while maintaining the strength, long-lasting durability, and extraordinary precision for which Gitzo heads have become famous.
Pan and Tilt Control
Provides exceptionally smooth pans and tilts. Friction for both pan and tilt planes is fully adjustable to perfectly match the weight of your camera. Tightening a convenient knob in the center of the friction control can also independently lock both movements.
Quick Release Plate
A sliding quick-release plate allows the camera to be easily mounted and balanced from either the front or the rear, and a built-in secondary safety catch protects the camera from accidentally sliding off the head.

G2380 Video Fluid Head is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overlooked fluid head for small applications I use this head with a Gitzo GT3532LSV video tripod and a Panasonic GH4, sometimes with Sachtler Ace accessories. I really like several things about it: 1) the build quality is great, no comparison to Manfrotto or the like, and better even than the Sachtler Ace parts. 2) It is fully plate-compatible with the various Manfrotto 501PL components, including the Sachtler Ace and FSB-4,6,-8 heads. 3) It is pretty light weight. 4) The controls are nicely arranged on one side. It's main drawback is that it has no counterbalance at all. For the GH4 naked this is okay, with a rig it is not so good. I am planning to get a Sachtler head as a result, probably the FSB-8.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good $, well-built, adequate performance I was looking for a reasonably priced lightweight fluid head to mount on an existing 'flat head' carbon fiber stills tripod. This fits the bill. PROs: The build quality is excellent and should take whatever punishment hiking & weather will throw at it. The controls are well placed and easily meet the hand. The weight for hiking use is very good. CONs: This is not a fluid head to be doing pan & tilt moves with anything longer than a 75mm equivalent. Simple pans or tilts work well but a combination move is problematic; the controls and feathering just cannot be set to allow smooth starts & stops and the controls are hard to balance to get 'equal' resistance on both axes. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget looking for a well-built durable fluid head but who does not need complex moves.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not recomendable for long lenses Gitzo states on their own webpage: ... this head (is) the ideal tool for photographers and bird watchers using long focal length lenses... I am sorry. This is absolutely not true. I have run a series of tests since I bought this fluid head, and it can't support a 500/4, neither is it recommendable for lenses like the 300/2.8. I don't like companies overselling their products. Gitzo does so in this case. And it just cost me money and time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for Pro Video This head is good for the home user who wants a fluid head. For pro video, it only smoothly pans and tilts at wide angle to medium. With a Canon AH1 on telephoto, it was not acceptable. I also did not prefer the locking mechanism, which required too much of a twist to lock quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent head for occasional Video shoot I wanted to get a pan head along with 60D. Even after reading all the positive reviews about the Bogen head, I was not too sure to get that. Asked a BH rep to suggest a head in that price range for my Gitzo legs and he suggested this instead. This a beautiful head, more than enough for my needs right now. Smooth pan and tilt with 60D & 70-200 IS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value For those on a budget and want a fluid head that's not a bottom basement model but can't afford the premium stuff, this head is for you! With a little practice one can get reasonably smooth pans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Bargain It was somewhat hard to decide on a video head for my tripod, and noting that most were in the over $1,000. So I went by brand and reputation, many of my photography friends use Gitzo products. So they have produced a winning video fluid head. True it is like a fluid head but for my small production it performs just fine. Gitzo has a winner here.
