Sigma 20mm f/1.8 Overview

This 20mm is a Super wide-angle lens with a large aperture of f/1.8 and angle of view 94.5°. It has Macro focusing capability with a minimum focusing distance of just 7.9", for a reproduction ratio of 1:4. The 9-bladed iris diaphragm obtains beautiful out of focus image characteristics. Aspherical lens elements in the front & rear lens groups minimize distortion, spherical aberration and astigmatisms. The lens has non-vignetting optical construction in order to obtain adequate peripheral brightness with wide apertures-especially desirable for digital cameras. The lens incorporates a rear focus system eliminating front lens rotation. The focusing ring does not rotate during autofocus yet provides adequate focusing torque of the focusing ring during manual focusing of the lens. The lens materials used in this new lens are lead and arsenic free ecological glass.

Note:
AF not supported by D40 and D60 cameras.

This lens will fit your D3100 so long has the lens has a Nikon mount.

question

Will the angle of view change if my Nikon is an APS-C type (I use a NIkon D5200)?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it will. You'll have to multiply your crop factor times the 20mm. For a 5200, I believe this will give you a 30mm equivalent.

question

Is this compatible with a Nikon D40?
Asked by: Anonymous
The lens can mount on the Nikon D40, and the autometering features will work, but the lens does not have a motor built into it to drive the AF on the D40 and other similar Nikon models which require a motor in the lens. It is manual focus only on this camera.
