Solid step-up ring

These are great because i've never gotten them cross-threaded like is the case for the cheaper aluminum step-up rings. Since I am often out in cold weather and wearing gloves, I need something that doesn't cross-thread, and after going through 3 different aluminum rings I finally gave up on them and am now using all brass. So far, they have worked perfectly.

Easy way to use the filters you already have on lenses that you seldom use.

Expensive, but works well.

Quality and function wise I give it a 5/5. It went on my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II easily and my 72mm filter when on flawlessly as well. However, before you buy this, I advise looking at the price of the filter first, which I foolishly did not do. I realized that the filter was just as expensive as this step-up ring. Also, if you have a small focus ring near the end of the lens near where the filter goes, I would also be cautious about this. The Canon 50mm f/1.8 II I use this on has a thing focus ring, so it is difficult for me to focus when I want to do so manually, as the larger ring gets in the way. Otherwise, this works very well.

Amazingly well built.

Perfect for adapting my (Nikon) 52mm diameter lens to my (ProMaster) 72mm diameter filters. I was worried about vignetting, but none is apparent in test shots.Overall quality of this ring is superb. It has a solid feel in the hand (brass == good mass + durable). Threading on lens and filter sides are very smooth, very little worry about cross threading. If there is any negative it is price. Several times more expensive than cheaper aluminum alternatives. Conversely (in a positive way) it is several times more durable than aluminum. I like quality equipment so I was willing to pay for it.

I needed a good step up ring to go from 52mm to 72mm. While there were a variety of less expensive step up rings on the market, the Heliopan was the only one I found that is constructed of brass. I chose it for construction, durability and reliability.
