    58-77mm Step-Up Ring (#145) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty There is a serious lack of heavy duty metal step rings in the 58-77mm size, most are plastic. This ring is Brass, painted black. It will probably outlast the lens that I attached it to. I've had no problems at all with it binding and frankly, that's worth the small amount of increased weight, to me. On the downside, it's startingly heavy, but that's the price you pay. The real downside is the price you pay, though. It's ridiculously expensive. On the other hand, I can't imagine a better step ring. If this is a product you're going to use for decades, you're going to be pleased and it's worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I WANTED TO REDUCE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS It's very easy for filters and adapters to bind, especially 77mm. I read many reviews regarding the difference between the generic and Heliopa step-up rings and decided I simply would have to find out for myself. I purchased both a generic step-up ring and the expensive Heliopan ring. Yes there is a difference. The Heliopan is higher quality. The Heliopan is brass and the generic is aluminum. The threads on the Heliopan are significantly better than the generic; much less drag resistance and easier mounting and removing. So is it worth the difference in price? The difference in price was minimal for a step up ring that is absolutely superior than the generic one considering it is used on a $2500 camera with a $1200 lens with a $175.00 filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worth the extra $ This 58mm to 77mm ring is extremely thin and of high quality. I use it in sub-freezing temperatures and it does not bind like some of the other rings I own. Working in the cold is tough enough without fighting one's equipment. I use it to step my large format lenses up to 77mm, and then a 77-82 step up ring to fit the Lee holder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well enough I'm using this ring to attach the B+W CPL MRC filter (77mm) to the Nikkor 55-300 3.5-4.5 lens (58mm front filter thread). It attaches smoothly to the lens and the ring itself is built well (sturdy and smooth). My only gripe is that the ring does not allow the filter to screw in all the way. It appears to jam after about 1.5 revolutions. I have tried the filter on the appropriate sized lenses and it does not jam so the issue lies with the way the 77mm portion of the ring is machined. The reason I am rating this ring 4 stars is because the filter is able to screw in far enough that it does not fall off and is therefore still functional. And there does not seem to be a better alternative out there at this time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than aluminum, but by how much? You can get generic brand step-up rings for about $$; this brass step-up ring from Heliopan is more. I've used both. If the texture of the threads matters at all to you, you will recognize immediately the superior quality of the Heliopan ring. For most people, the 5x increase in cost is not worth the warm fuzzies; for me, I intend to use this ring until I stop using 77mm filters. I regret selling my 67-77mm brass ring, even though I no longer use 67mm lenses. That experience was enough to let me know that the Heliopan ring was the right choice for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always high quality I have used other sizes of this product...so when I got a new camera system with, of course, different size filters, I went right to Heliopan for my step-up ring. They work great and saves me from having to buy too many filters...which are much more expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Precision Product Having switched from one system to another my old Heliopan Circular polarizer would not fit but this was the perfect answer. Not only saves you money but is built with the same quality I expected from Heliopan.
