Sennheiser MKE-2 Overview

The black Sennheiser MKE 2 is a tough, subminiature omnidirectional lavalier microphone renowned for its dependable performance among industry professionals, including broadcast and field audio engineers, theater performers, presenters, and film/video crews. The mic’s dual-diaphragm design resists sweat and moisture, while the tiny size offers a discreet appearance that’s easy to conceal—even resisting contact and rustling noise when hidden in clothing and costumes.

With its wide 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and ability to handle up to 130 dB SPL, the MKE 2 lav provides clear, intelligible reproduction of speech, dialog, and vocals. The microphone's omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from 360° around the capsule, helping to deliver consistent levels, even when the talent turns away from the mic capsule.

The MKE 2 is available with several connector options to accommodate wireless transmitters and other compatible equipment. This model features an XLR connection for use with a wide variety of professional audio gear including portable audio recorders, mixers, interfaces, camcorders, cameras, and more. The mic requires 12 to 48V of phantom power to operate.

A frequency cap is supplied, allowing you to boost the high-end frequency response if desired.

XLR Connector

Compatible with a Wide Variety of Professional Audio Gear

The MKE 2 will work with mixers, cameras, camcorders, portable audio recorders, interfaces, and a wide range of audio gear able to supply the mic with phantom power.

Industry-Proven Performance

Subminiature Size with a Quiet, Dependable Cable

The MKE 2's subminiature profile enables the microphone to be used on stage or on camera while remaining inconspicuous. The mic can easily be hidden beneath clothing or costumes, while the stranded, steel-reinforced cable is designed to minimize clothing and rustling noise.

Sweat-Resistant Construction

The unique dual-diaphragm umbrella mic capsule design provides reliable protection from perspiration and moisture.

Ample Headroom for Vocals

The mic is designed to handle broadcast and theater applications, including vocals and instruments up to 130 dB, without distortion.

Omnidirectional Polar Pattern

The forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent isn't speaking directly toward the microphone.

Wide Frequency Response

With its wide, linear 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and excellent transient response, the MKE 2 provides accurate and transparent reproduction of speech, vocals, and instruments. A frequency cap is supplied to boost the high-end frequencies, often used if the mic is concealed in clothing.

question

Will this mic work with Shure x2u xlr to usb adapter ?
Asked by: Guntuku R.
While I dont own a Shure X2U adapter, Ive read through the manual, and I see no reason that the MKE-2-PC Mic with XLR wouldnt work with the X2U. The adapter will supply phantom power, so the mic should work properly.

question

I need a quality lavalier for recording training webinars and have read great things about MKE-2. I will feed lavalier into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo which has phantom power and XLR input. Will MKE-2 with XLR (this listing) plug directly into the Focusrite or do I need some kind of power converter btw the MKE-2 and the focusrite? Someone mentioned to me I need a MZA900P in-line preamp or a K6? Can someone clarify? Confused...
Asked by: Anonymous
The MKE 2 P-C will ship with an XLR connection and will connect and work with the Focusrite interface when using phantom power. No additional preamp needed.

question

Hi I have a Zoom H4n digital audio recorder, which would be the best levallier mic for that?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Zoom H4N is compatible with most lavaliers available, either connected to the XLR inputs on the bottom of the unit, or via the 3.5mm input jack at the top of the unit. The best lavalier would depend on a particular application.
