Acrylic Insert Slate is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Writing rubs right off after just a bit of use. I bought this to be used exactly as it's intended - as an insert slate. Not as a replacement for a regular slate, not to be used exclusively as the only slate on set, but solely as an insert slate for when you're rolling on extreme close ups and for when you're not running sync sound. The slate held up for a bit, but after only a few shoots, the writing started to rub off when I would clean it. I've since replaced it with one of the Pearstone insert slates which I like much more. The writing is etched into the slate so there's no way anything is going to be removed. If anyone is wondering, I was cleaning the slate with Pancro lens cleaner + Kimwipes, the same stuff I use to clean every slate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Solution to a Common Problem I did not want to spend a lot of money on a slate and clacker so I was looking for another option because what I really needed was to mark the tapes as I was recording scenes. This product is small, lightweight, easily written on and can be held at arms length in front of the camera and marks perfectly. I find it very valuable and it costs so much less than a large slate board. If you want another option than this is a good one to try, after all it is not that expensive to try it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Slate It was a great product for shooting MOS and silent films. Allows you to edit your films faster and to keep track of your shots in post. It a simple product, fits in your pocket. You can use any dry erase marker on it. It is must have for student, independent and silent film makers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't get much simpler than this! Very good quality for one of the cheaper insert slates on the market. Takes dry erase markers very well and wipes clean with no smears.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Bit small I purchased this to use with a DSLR production. The idea was to hold it at arms length from my DSLR rig while shooting. The issue is that it was too blurry to be of any use with the particular focal length I was shooting at. So for me, it didn't work and I didn't use it at all. I can, however, see the benefit of it for certain situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little piece of equipment I'm a freelance videographer from Portland, OR and I love this insert slate. Its only a 4x5, but it works perfectly for what I use it for. Its perfect for small promotions, interviews, etc. Anything that you wouldn't need a clapper to sync sound with, this little insert slate works wonders. Dry erase markers also work very well on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insert Slate in Action This works very well, the marker is held in front of the camera and the holder yells out the scene and take and then pulls away for action to be called. We've been using it for our zombie production and it was worked very well and makes identifying clips in editing much easier.
