    8x8cm Lensboard (Flat) for 45FA, HD & VH - Copal/Compur #0 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Machined The hole seemed a bit big, but when I applied the retaining ring it was a perfect fit for a recess on the back and the lens (a 90 mm f8) centered up beautifully. The backorder took less time than expected. These particular lens boards can be hard to find. The 45FA front standard creates a bit of a recess so the flat lens board puts the lens down inside the front standard making exact rotational positioning of the lens so that everything works without interferences tricky, especially a cable release. The slightly extended version might be better, but even with the tight fit for both a 150 f5.6 and the 90 mm f 8 they both work fine once the correct angle is found. The 8x8 cm lens board is harder to work with due to the small size relative to even a Copal #0 and you certainly will need a proper retaining ring spanner wrench. The raised circle on the back of this lens board even makes that tricky. I had to file down the one I had, a rather typical 4 sided flat version for four different size shutter retaining rings, in order to get it down inside the raised ring on the back of this lens board and fully seat into the retaining ring on the Copal #0 shutter. But the wrenches are inexpensive and sacrificing the two #3 shutter fittings on the two sides modified was not a big deal. I am pretty sure one is not going to be mounting a #3 shutter on such a small lens board. Given how tight the fit is on a #0, I imagine a slightly extended lens board is probably required for a #1 though I have never tried to mount one on this camera. Like the 45FA in general, everything has been designed as compact as possible, so expect to have to spend some time mounting and positioning the lens on this lens board. Fortunately it is so well machined. Be careful about the 45FA warnings about maximum size of the rear element of the lens. The one on the 90 mm f8 lens I have is in the barely fits category both in terms of the hole in the front standard plate this lens board mounts to and the lens end of the tapered bellows on the 45FA. Makes one appreciate the vast size of the 14 x 14 cm boards. On the other hand, the lens with one of these lens boards mounted is not that much bigger than the lens itself. Handy for storage and packing for transport since I have yet to find a lens compact enough that the 45FA will fold up with the lens mounted.
