Heliopan 707211 overview

  • 1Description

The Heliopan 72mm UV SH-PMC Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others. The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The SH-PMC multi-coating provides a total of 16 coatings, 8 per side, for significant reflection reduction (below 0.2%) as well as dust and moisture repellence for easier cleaning.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

    Heliopan 707211 reviews

    72mm UV SH-PMC Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just don't go wide! Great product. But i did read in other reviews that you shouldn't use this if you go extreme wide angle. but what does that mean? Well, i found out the hard way. I use a nikon 18-200mm lens for most of my work. If i zoom out to 18-30mm, i can see the edges in the corners, or vinyetting (spellcheck). Other than that, this is a great piece of glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great filter slim profile filter fits perfectly on my lens (canon) Only complaint is that my lens cap does not fit as securely as with other filters due to the slim design. This is not really a problem, I just have to make sure to put the cap on tightly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! High quality filter. Brass ring, Schott glass, multi-coated optics, need I say more? Don't waste your time with substandard filters. So the question is, How much should you spend on a quality filter? As much as it takes... Why buy a $2000 lens and cap it with cheap glass? You paid that much for a superior optical path, so don't mess it up. This filter will protect your optics and enhance the overall output. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection for expensive glass I still favor the more expensive Heliopan filters for several reasons. First, the brass rings are less subjected to changes in temperature - hot or cold and they have good grips on the sides to easily loosen if too tight. Less important, but nice, the filter cases are similar in sizes and labeled on the outside with a large clear top so that you can see if the filter is in the case and which filter goes where. Because there is a label on the side, I store them with the sides of the case up instead of stacked and I can easily find them when I want to throw some in a case, like looking for a book on a shelf. I have some B+W as well which are also good, but the Heliopan cases are much superior, imo. This filter sits on the front of a Leica S lens, which is waterproof and has a great glass coating, but I still want to protect from sand and dirt in the wind when photographing on the beaches of South Carolina. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent FIlter for top quality glass I never understood why folks will spend thousands on top glass, like Canon L lenses, and then put a $ filter in front of it. If you are going to spend the money on lenses, be smart enough to spend a little extra to get the best filters you can and these filters have always done a great job for me to get the most out of my lenses. Canon primes from 24 to 85mm all produce much better images with a quality filter in front of them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch filter Probably the best filter made. Has every quality and feature you would desire, at a premium price. Great coating, low profile, smooth threads, good construction. If it's the best you're looking for, this is the one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the top line filters in the marke Heliopan filters are my favorite filters and I basically buy one when I by a new lens. In terms of IQ they produce the best results with minimal vignietting or distortion. highly recommended. The only downside is the price but it is well worth it. It is a one time expense that you have to make if you want your L lens to be safe and have pictures that are expected from an L lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it to protect your glass Expensive? yes. Maybe you could go with a cheaper version, but I bought this with my Canon 50mm L 1.2, and if I'm going to spend $1500 on a lens, I want to protect my image quality and investment.
