Norman C1000 overview

  • 1Description

The 1000W Allure C1000 Tungsten Open Face Light from Norman is a constant light source that is great for video and still imaging. Variable output at a constant color temperature makes it the right choice for digital applications. The Allure C1000 system is also available in convenient kits. The Allure effectively "dims" the light without changing color temperature by putting two bulbs inside one diffusion globe. One of the bulbs is a 350-watt, the other is a 650-watt glass base, bi-pin halogen. Together, the light provides 1000 total watts.

This lamp head does not include bulbs.

Dual Lamp Fixture
Unique dual quartz design with independent on/off switches to enable power selection, keeping color temperature constant at the same time.
Glass Dome
Frosted front surface of Glass Dome provides small amount of diffusion.
Compatibility
Accepts most Norman (and Photogenic) accessories.

    Norman C1000 reviews

C1000 Tungsten Open Face Light (120V) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Norman C1000 Allure Lamps I have been a Norman professional photo lighting equipment user since the 1980s. My current online magazine content has shifted to HD video, and I needed a lighting solution for indoor studio work. Two C1000 Allure lamp heads were my choice, and I am pleased with the result: The camcorder has a slow-speed 50 ISO rating, and F-stops have gone from using the gain boost (beyond wide open aperature with a grainy effect) to 2.4-2.8 F-stop range. This is much better, with as much light as a live subject (most often me!) can handle. The Norman C1000 Allure lamp heads are well built and work well, with the added advantage of a 350W modeling mode plus the 650W boost. The combined, full 1000W mode is impressive when used at closer range to the subject...Any improvement from here will be a video camcorder or HD-DSLR with a faster ISO rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent work horse I have used these lights for 6 years now and they have yet to fail me. This is my 5th light addition to my set. I have only had to replace 2 bulb sets. The dome and barndoors do get hot but the circuits and bodies themselves have never overheated or melted on me and ive run these for hours on end. Color temp of 3200K is stated in product manual so adjusting your camera settings is simple, color temp is constant at all output lvls It comes with two bulbs, 1x350watts & 1x650watts You can use either bulb individually or you can turn both on for a total 1000 watt output. Attachments go on easy an quickly. The glass dome spring clips can be a lil loose -varries from purchase to purchase- i just bend them in a lil bit by hand and tighten the screw down. Never had an issue with them falling off but i shoot around a lot of active running grabby pully kids so i do it to be extra sure incase of a bump or tip over. Only con now is the sound of the fans being picked up when shooting video.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good solid light a a good price I have a set of three of these lights that I use for video as well as still photo lighting. I bought this one to replace one that died. It lasted about 4 years and I travel a lot with these lights so I'd say they are pretty durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the job done ... well !!!! I have a small in-house photographic studio, that needs an unusual lighting set due to my physical limitations. This instrument gave me the portability and lighting flexibility that I need. I would highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recomended with a hitch I recomend it for its usage... The quality is great except the plastic head on the screw for tightening the umbrella shaft is cheap it seperated from the screw head so I can't tighten it now. I used it one time.
