Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Articulating Mount This is exactly what I was searching for! Actually took me quite a bit to find it tho... and at a great price compared to the alternatives I was finding! I was looking for a short articulating arm for my DSLR video rig to mount an external monitor to, on that in a way I could adjust quickly with a single hand that same way you can the monitor on a camcorder. Essentially a friction lock ball head with cold shoe mount ... and that is what this is and does! Happy I found it and couldn't ask for anything better for my use. I had to order two right away. Only had it a couple weeks so I cant report on its durability and longevity, but it seems well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A product that works I'm blown away buy this product, I'm still finding uses for it. To be honest, I was brutal on the first one, overtighting the knob, dropped it and I couldn't destroy it. I purchased it to mount a speedlight to a lightstand, but I found you can turn it upside down, mount a small camera to it,I even used it in a clamp to mount a flag. No it's not a metal ball head and it won't hold hold your large format camera, but they are tough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I was a little skeptical of the reviews, but the price was right. It turns out the reviews were right: the UltraMount is one of those simple, unassuming designs that approach elegance. The bottom joint is single-axis and notched for rigidity. The top is a ball in a clamp. There's only one knob. Tighten it to set the bottom joint, tighten another turn or so to lock the ball. Simple and quick. A good complement to a medium or large Gorillapod, adding quicker and easier mounting and extra versatility, with little weight or bulk. I use this combo with a Zoom H4n recorder, which lets me put it anywhere and set it to an easy-to-read angle, and helps isolate it from vibrations. Might also work well with a shoe adapter to mount speedlights, and as a monopod head. I plan to get more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As handy a bit of gear as you could want I got this to help control the position of my flash as well as have my Canon 430EX II Flash reach the end of my Sigma 180mm Macro Lens when mounted on my Strobofram Stroboflip Flash Bracket. This gives mount gives two points of adjustment, a mini-ball adjustment on top and a tilt adjustment at the base of the mount. With a Giottos MH-1001 head mounted to the top of this mount I can position my flash in just the right position for the coverage and lighting effect I want... ONE CON: it can take a bit of practice to become accustom to both points of adjustment being controlled by one center knob. But eventually you notice the bottom requires more turns to fully loosen which allows just a slight turn or so to move only the mini-ball at the top. This is a MINOR thing and just needs some practice...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design, robust construction This product was purchased in order to mount a custom made sport timing light beam on a wooden stake sunk into the hardpack snow of a ski slope. In this application, we need to allign two such electro-optical devices aimed at each other and seperated by over 25 feet. As we will be working in the winter cold and we need to achieve an alignment within a few degrees, the Pedco Ball Head is perfect with its easy to grab handle and its generously sized ball and socket clamp design. And the price beats most camera mini-tripods having a much harder to achieve adjustment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy for Mounting Cameras/Monitors Use this with the Ultrapod ULTRA CLAMP as a versatile way to mount small cameras and monitors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough little mount Very happy with this device. It's larger than the mount on the original Ultrapod, which I have used for years. The 3-spoke tightening nut allows you to apply plenty of clamping force on the ball, without making it difficult to release later. The round knob on the original Ultrapod can be hard to loosen because of its size and shape. I'm using this mostly for my GoPro POV camera for some creative camera angles for action shots. So far so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent, handy, and made in USA! A product this small and reasonably priced could easily end up being poorly designed or made-- but this one isn't- it's well thought out and well made. The base has a brass thread; the adjustment knob fits well and adjusts easily, and it holds well the moment it is snugged up. If you need a small adjustable camera base, this is a real find. Price is very reasonable, and it's great to buy/support something made in the USA.
