Avenger C-Stand 33 Reviews

Heavy Duty!

This is a heavy duty stand that seems capable of handling anything mounted on it. The largest amount I've put to it is appx. 5kg but I think it could easily handle the 10kg it is rated for. Very satisfied and planning on buying another.

This is my first C-stand and the solidity and functionality are impressive. You can tell everything is built to close tolerances and made to last. I picked it in a hurry, mostly by reputation and because it would fit in my car, and discovered the legs fold flat on one side but aren't detachable. I'm on location a lot and my next purchase will probably be a hand truck. : )

Strong and easy to use

This is my purchase of a second of these stands. They are strong and work simple by keeping a strong hold on lighting equipment that can be heavy.

I am a HUGE fan of Avenger C-Stands and their Grip Heads! While I do really like their other grip products....I can't get enough of their C-Stands and Grip Heads! Kupo is great too!

Great C-stand/grip arm combo

This is the second Avenger C-stand/grip arm combo I have purchased, this one for on-location shoots so I don't have to break down and lug the one I now can have permanently in the studio. I use it mainly for a hair light, fitted with a Profoto B1X head and gridded beauty dish. The arm (with a sandbag counterweight at the other end of the arm) is long enough so the hair light can extend and come almost from straight above my subject.

Sturdy, delivered on time. Does

This is a very sturdy stand for my studio strobes. Even on the boom it holds my soft box or beauty dish securely. I do wish the ends of the boom arm had screws on them. The boom simply ends and you either have to put the light on the clamp with a small extender, or screw it onto the smooth end of the arm itself. So long as everything stays tight all is good, but I do worry about using the boom at a downward angle and the light loosening then slipping off. It hasn't happened, and I put it on tight, but I would have preferred screw on adapters or a detent at the end for the mounting screw to go into, to hold the light more securely.

I've seen Avengers stands with 10 years of heavy lifting and still going strong which is why this brand was a no brainer. They are heavier than some other brands, but I personally like that as I don't worry about tipping when a smaller payload is on top. They also stack well in the back of a vehicle. Black is a huge plus.

Much taller than expected

What transport case is recommended for these since the legs don't detach?
Asked by: Gregory P.
Personally I don't have a case for transport. I just put it in the truck when I need to but most of the time it stays in my studio.

What adapters would this stand need to attach a speedlight and a small octobox (26 ) on the arm?
Asked by: David
If the 26 softbox does not have a stand mount on its speed ring, then you can use the Manfrotto Lite-Tite Swivel Umbrella Adapter B&H # MA026.

I'm looking for a stand that will hold my Alien Bees + light box and take up less room in my studio. The all purposed air-cushioned regular light stands take up much of my floor space in my current set up. Is this better for small space?
Asked by: Jennifer
This C-stand would be better for space since you can prop the legs against the wall.

This C stand seems identical to the 9.8' Avenger C-Stand but has a sliding leg and has more height. Why is it cheaper?
Asked by: Kelly
While I do not set pricing and I can only state the pricing listed on our website shows our lowest available pricing for the items we carry, I will state that the discrepancy in price is the same as on the manufacturer's/distributor's own website. On the shorter 9.8' stand, the base is built onto the stand (not removable), but it has a sliding leg to accommodate the stand on uneven surfaces. The taller stand has a removable turtle base and separate center column, including its extra height. On all authorized dealer's websites, the 9.8' sliding leg C-stand would be higher in price compared to the taller removable base 10.75' C-stand.

Not sure I follow you, but the three legs turn to point in the same direction to carry more easily.

is this c-stand painted or actual black steel?
Asked by: Anonymous
This stand is painted black which holds up pretty well. I have only had issues of it scratching off were I tighten the screw to mount the light
