Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Overview

As simple as it is versatile, the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D from Nikon is a compact normal-length prime lens. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in a variety of lighting conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for isolating focus. A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements, and reduces lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy when working in bright and backlit conditions. Also, a rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Normal-length prime lens is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 75mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture offers depth of field control for working with selective focus techniques.
A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
Autofocus system is compatible with select Nikon DSLRs that support D-type lenses, and offers quick and precise focusing performance.

Autofocus is not supported by DSLRs lacking an autofocus motor, such as the D3000-series, D5000-series, D40, D40X, and D60, where the lens may be used with manual focus only.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

You will need to set your aperture to f/22 in order for this lens to be recognized by the Nikon D5000. Please note that your lens will be manual focus only when you are using it on the D5000.

question

Will the auto focus on this lens work on a D5300?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately no, it would be manual focus on the D5300. The D5300 requires lenses that have a focus motor built into the lens. Nikon refers to them as the AF-S series lenses. You can use the 50mm AF-S lens instead. Please see the following link:http://bhpho.to/1bhjeTyThe 50mm f1.8 G lens is an AF-S series so it will auto focus with the D5300 camera.

question

does this work with the d3200?
Asked by: Anonymous
The AF 50mm f\/1.8D lens is compatible with the D3200, though autofocus will not be supported; you will need to manually focus the lens. If autofocus is a must, you would need one of the AF-S lenses, such as the AF-S 50mm f\/1.8G lens (B&H # NI5018GAF).

question

I will be using a Canon 7d with the Nikon 50mm f1.8 D lens, and I was wondering if someone could tell me of a reliable adapter that I should use? I have heard some horror stories with certain adapters getting stuck.
Asked by: Keegan
In my opinion, you should buy a Canon 50mm instead of an adapter. I would like to share a detail about the 50mm f1.8mm: it doesn't permit to use the AE-L/AF-L button to lock focus, for an mathematical issue. It annoys me, I'd rather get a f1.4mm.

question

Interested in using this lens for cinematography. Can someone tell me how the focus throw is on this lens?
Asked by: Anonymous
It has about a 3 throw, on a lens barrel that is about 63 mm in diameter. It covers about a 40 degree twist. The focus ring is very light, with little resistance, and feels very hollow and plastic-y.

question

Is this lens compatible with camera Nikon D600? If yes, how as I can not make it workthank you
Asked by: Anonymous
The Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D600. As this is a D lens, the aperture ring needs to be turned to f/22, and then locked. There is a switch next to the aperture ring with an orange dot; you would pull this towards the back of the lens in order to lock the aperture ring. If you dont have the aperture ring locked, all sorts of compatibility issues might arise.

Autofocus works with Fx mount with Z mount (Z6)?

Autofocus works with Fx mount with Z mount (Z6)?
Asked by: Rev Joby Varghese
The Autofocus will not work with any old AF and AF-D lens because the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter do not have a motor for them. In other words is Manual focus.
