This kit including 100 sheets of Ilford RC 8 x 10 enlarging paper, 5 rolls of film and 25 negative sleeves is the best deal going for anyone interested in darkroom photography. Ilford is certainly the standard for film and paper, and these two items are the flagships in their line for a beginning photographer, amateur or pro! The negative sleeves are also top quality and make printing contact sheets very easy. I teach a college class entitled Basic Photography and recommend this kit to all my students as the best buy for everything they need to get started!

I received the kit with negative sleeves and paper right on time for a class I'm taking. We used some of the paper Tuesday, but haven't had an assignment to use the film or negative sleeves. So far I'm happy with my order. Thank you for being there.

question

whats the exp date of this film? i see the pic is mar 2013 whats that mean?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, we do not have access to our inventory since our warehouses are in a different location, however, any film that was within 6-months of its expiration date would be sold as short dated and listed as such on our site. All other film will be at least 6 months out from its expiration date. The March 2013 date in the product photo on the webpage is simply for illustrative purposes and does not reflect the date of all of the film that is available.

question

how many roll in the box?
Asked by: Anonymous
This is a special type of film called a Bulk Roll which is 100 (feet) long. Bulk Rolled film is used in conjunction with a special loading machine and reusable film canisters. This was very commonly used in the past by newspaper agencies, magazines and colleges where film is used in greater mass. A 100 roll could commonly yield 15-18 rolls of film depending on how many frames were loaded by the user into the reusable canisters. Unfortunately we no longer carry/sell the bulk loading machines that are required for use with this type of film. You would have to find that type of machine used someplace.

What is the total thickness of the 70mm film? ...

What is the total thickness of the 70mm film? (emulsion + base). Does "layer" thickness listed in the film specs indicate total thickness? I understand that there is no backing paper on this film. The 70mm film is not listed on the Ilford website. Thanks.
Asked by: PAUL
Yes the layer thickness listed here would indicate the total thickness.

question

What is the expiry date for the films in the Ilford HP5+ 50-roll pack?
Asked by: Bezalel B.
The bricks I recently received (10/16) are dated April 2020, for a 3.5 year lead time. Probably can't count on that always being the case - could be more or less - but my fairly regular purchases have always had lead times measured in years, definitely not months! (It's b+w, after all.)
