Manfrotto 475B Pro Overview

The Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column is a workhorse with modernized features, in essence a much improved version of the venerable 3036. It can extend to over 6' tall, and the geared center column cannot lose height accidentally. The 475 maintains stability at all heights, and the innovative leg braces allow for both infinite leg spread & quick setup. A spirit level and convertible rubber/spike feet are included.

To avoid delays in leveling the tripod, the telescopic center braces have been designed with two click stop positions that allow you to easily find the same spread angle on all three legs.

I'm confused by the questions regarding a head. I limited my search for tripod LEGS only, not legs AND a head. So does this unit have a head that comes with the tripod legs? or do you buy the head separately? N.b. I don't want the head. Thanks.

The description says there is an optional ball/pan head. The photo shows a flat head. I want to buy the 502HD 75mm half ball head. Will it fit this tripod? Do I need to buy an optional thingamajig to make it work? Thanks.

Being that the 475B has a flat base with a 3/8-16” thread, you would need an adapter such as th ProMediaGear 75mm Bowl Adapter (6"), B&H# PRTRHH2 which will convert the 75mm half bowl connection to the 3/8-16” flat base connection. https://bhpho.to/2k0NW5N

Is theere any information how to remove the head from these legs? I purchased one with the head, but id like to use it for a slider.

Typically you just unscrew the head from the legs. Make sure the panning lock is tight, then unscrew, there maybe some grub screws below the head platform, in which case the must be backed out in order to remove the head.

No, it will not. This tripod has a 3/8"-16 mount, meant for tripod heads rather than for cameras to be mounted directly. Yes, it will. It has a flat base with a 3/8 male screw. The good thing on this tripod is that you can lower it to a 16.9 height, the bad one it's weight: 9.5 lb. Too heavy to carry-on all day. Setup time in sloping terrains will take longer than a tripod with ball head.

Received it today, how do I attach a sand bag to it? Might be a no brainer but what screws onto the bottom column?

I have to admit, I do not know. The tripod is so heavy and stable I've never needed to use a sandbag. Once you get it locked down, it is rock solid. The screw coming out of the bottom is a standard 3/8 thread and my bet is someone makes a hook that threads onto it allowing you to attach a sandbag. Check with B&H and see if such a hook is available.
