Lastolite LR4886 overview

  • 1Description

The Cubelite takes the light tent concept to a fully collapsible softbox for space efficiency and easy transport. The Cubelite sets up in seconds to form a self-contained, completely enclosed shooting environment free of unwanted reflections and shadows.

The Cubelite is made of a durable white diffusion material allowing the subject to be lit from the sides, back, top and, with a suitable light table, the bottom. Use whatever lights you have, or use it outdoors.

Includes a pair of aligator clips inside for hanging paper to make a gradient light-curve background.
Ideal for product shots, glassware, and other shiny objects.

Lastolite LR4886 reviews

Cubelite Shooting Tent is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cubelite review, the good and the bad Finally a large enough light tent to house things like backpacks, coolers and yes, even a dog. The build on it is great, no seams in any wall and the framing is strong enough to support itself...once set in place. What I mean is, once you have unfolded it, one support beam may want to bend out of place and it will take some patiences to get it to stay in place, but once there, it won't move anymore. The other downside, do you remember back in the day the maps we had in cars that you had to unfold? We were never able to get them folded back up again, this thing is worse! Better instructions would be helpful in the refolding process and it is much easier with two people. If you have lots of product to sell, if you enjoy macro photography, this is the box to get. I do enjoy it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Form and Function Meet An engineering marvel. A beast to set up the first time - you'll need two people. It's difficult to keep it from collapsing on itself at first. As the steel relaxes, it becomes more freestanding. Frankly, I haven't had the courage to try to take it down and put it back in the case. I'm really pleased with the purchase. A definite help in controlling light and shadow on products. Just need to figure out a way to keep my kids from playing in it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cubelite 4'x4'x4' surpasses expectations What a great product! Sure beats having to jury-rig a make-do scenario! Takes seconds to open and set up - because it's a large unit and the steel support bands are flexible, it's easier to set up with an extra set of hands. Collapsing it and returning it to its fully-folded store-away condition takes just a few seconds longer but is quite manageable, especially if you're already used to collapsing/folding collapsible reflectors or similar products. In actual use, the extra volume of space is particularly handy as I can get into it to move my subjects around and to finetune the composition. Because the lights are still close to the subject (within 2-3 ft), you can quite easily attain f8 or f11 or even f16 on the subject. Very easy to use my studio lights from any position around the cube - except from the bottom; I've had to spend some extra dollars to buy a sturdy-enough sheet of heavily-frosted plexiglass on top of some sawhorses to use as a shoot-from-the-bottom base. The zip-up front renders nicely for reflective surfaced subjects so that a minimum of Photoshop was required in post-production to get rid of the telltale dark opening. Amazing results shooting/copying textured artwork, such as acrylics or oils on canvas - the reduction in specular highlights is unbelievable! The shoot-through fabric seems durable and renders almost neutral daylight (around 4800 K). Once you've got all your lights in place and your tripoded camera in position, you'll quickly discover that you need a fair amount of walking room to work efficiently.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not stable enough this tent works fine if you want to work on the floor, or if you can put multiple folding tables for example, together, to elevate the tent. Once fully expanded, it is stable though I would gladly pay extra had the manufacturer chose to sew in rod guides and provided rods such as are in camping tents, to give some rigidity to the tent. Incredibly enough, folding is not the issue I thought it was, as portrayed by other users. I folded the tent and got it back in back in under a minute on the first try. I'm returning it for a smaller size though. This tent I believe will be just too big for my needs but I can visualize owning one if you have a need for more room for larger items. Unfortunately I did not attempt to photograph anything through the fabric so I cannot comment on that effectiveness.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cant stand on its own I am disappointed with it. Only because this product cant stand on its own. Its very large but the supports on the side cant take the weight and it sags from one side.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible to collapse Don't even bother with this tent. If you plan not to fold it it might work for you but if that's not the case you will struggle hard and long to fold it. I have just discarded it as it was not practical to me to leave it open all the tima and could not spent 2 hours to fold it properly.......I give it a big 0

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great tent I was photographing silk flowers with strobe lights and needed a larger tent. This worked perfectly for what I needed it to do providing an environment that allowed us to control the strobes and lighting to produce great product shots. I did not find any issues with the product at all.
