    Pelican 1040 reviews

1040 Micro Case (Solid Blue with Black Lining) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged, well-designed, and a good value I am very pleased with the Pelican 1040 Micro Case. I plan to mount it semi-permanently on my motorcycle's handlebars to house my radar detector, smart phone, or other such devices for which I want good shock and weather protection and the ability to see the display. I am impressed with its rugged design, the ability to seal it, the transparent case, and the shock-absorbing liner. I was also impressed with the price at B&H. While I have not yet installed it, I expect no problems based on my prior highly positive experiences with Pelican waterproof cases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great case, with potential flaws. Use it for keeping valuables (passport, credit cards, key fobs) when I travel. It's pretty much as solid a case as you are gonna find. This, however, is my second version of the case because the closing clasp broke on the first one. It may have been a bad batch. It may have been a freak flaw. But where the clasp 'clicks' into place, the plastic broke on not one, but both sides leaving it unable to remain locked closed. I obviously like these cases enough to buy another one but hoped it would have lasted longer than 3 years of light/average use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits Phottix Odin Radios I have several of these for general protective purposes. One can hold my Fujifilm X100S (minus the lens shade) in wet environments, such as on a boat or on a rainy day. Most recently, I bought two of them to hold my Phottix Odin transmitters. The three receivers fit perfectly in one 1040 case, while the transmitter and other accessory cables that come with it fit in the other one. I picked up this tip from a Phottix rep at a trade show, who travels all the time with this setup. I can just throw these two cases into my kit and off I go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indestructible, Color-Coded Protection For Delicate Items I have several of these extremely well made cases, which I use to protect and carry my more delicate gadgets, such as my flash meter and flash triggers. I have tried cases from other manufacturers, but these are the best. The clear tops allow me not only see the contents, but to make sure that when I'm packing up after a shoot, the contents have actually been put away. The colors (in my case, all of my cases are red) allow me to spot MY cases from anyone else's. And they are darn near indestructible. I love these cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great case! Perfect little case! It holds a LaCie Mobile or one of the ultra-compact mobile hard drives, with cables. Fits just right- protected, and snug with a little bit of foam so the contents don't bounce around too much. Put into a FedEx box, toss into the car, whatever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent! I bought this to store my new Tascam DR-40 recorder. It fits the recorder snugly but perfectly, with room for the USB cable tucked-in on the side. Quality is outstanding, and I've felt confident bringing my recorder on several camping/hiking trips and I know it will be almost impossible for it to ever become wet or damaged in this case! If you shop around for cases this is top quality for such a great price, by far. Again, this case just fits the DR-40 with really no room for it to rattle around

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for taking cell phone hiking I got this to protect my Droid Ultra when backpacking. Much cheaper than an otterbox, and actually waterproof. I can fit my phone and large external battery pack for a week-long trip (with a little space left over) and not worry about wet, crushed, cracked screen, or anything else, even when jammed down in my pack. Also, it's future proof because it will fit my next phone too. Only downside is that the hole for the included carabiner is too small to use a more robust hook, but that is very minor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fine piece of gear, reasonable price I use the 1040 in a dry bag to keep my phone, wallet, and keys dry while kayaking. Very reliable combination. Mechanical as well as wetness protection. Keep the gasket and the edge of the box clean.
