Canon EW-83F reviews

EW-83F Lens Hood for 24-70mm f/2.8L Lens is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as good as new After 5 years my lens hood popped off my 24-70 f/2.8L Canon lens while leaning over the stone wall of a reservoir when the hood hit the stone and popped off - this was while I was trying to get an unusual shot of beautiful hand-hewn stone on the spill-way. Watched with sadness as it dropped hundreds of feet onto the roof of a maintenance shed that was unreachable by any means. I thought I would end up with a knock-off but when I received my new lens hood (...) I was happy to see it was identical to the lens hood I lost including the felt on the inside. Very happy and relieved as this is my favorite lens and the lens hood has saved the lens from many knocks and bangs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be careful here...... Please be careful. If you own a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II lens this will not fit. I ordered it to replace the EW-88C that came with my lens. The II generation of the 24-70 must be 5mm different in OD then the generation I.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Hood for the Perfect Lens The Canon 24-70 lens literally lives on my camera, but it needs a hood and this one from its maker is, of course perfect. It effectively stops sun spots when shooting outside, which is what I do most of the time. It's also a must have for indoor situations as well. It's easy to take off and on. It's Canon. It's a quality product, well-made, durable and a must have if you own this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Real Deal I bought this lens shade to replace the old one that cracked. I use the 24-70 lens the most and have had it since 2006. I could have bought a cheap knock off but I once purchased a made in China release cord for my camera and had nothing but problems. I do this full time for a living and I would rather pay a little more for the original than have to deal with the drama.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Canon Lens hood I use the hood on the lens it was designed for. The design of this lens is very poor, not your fault but it is a dog. This was my first visit to B&H's actual store and it was a great experience. Everyone was helpful, knowlegable and told me the absolute truth. I wish I was in NY more often so I could come by and get hands on experience with all the equipment we only see in magazines here. Abe in Used Cameras was extremely helpful as was Paul in Cameras. The honesty and integrity of your staff was very refreshing. I will be back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential component During a recent wedding shoot, this lens hood fell out of my bag and has disappeared. It is essential equipment and the replacement I got was perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens Hood Works well with lens. Great for putting up against glass to get photos at zoological facilities and also helps with lens flare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing like an OEM part When I was on vacation, I cracked my lens hood somehow. I attempted to replace it with an after market part to 'save money', I should have known better. Part got to me but the plastic was softer than the Canon part and there was no black felt on the inside of the lens hood to stop light sheen from the plastic. So, off I went to the fabric store to purchase some black felt and some glue. Glue the felt inside the lens hood... let dry... cut the felt to fit. Looks ok but the plastic is still soft and hood keeps popping off my lens. No time or money saved on this issue. Sooooo... I ordered the Canon lens hood from B&H. Of course, I ordered the incorrect one. It got here in record time but it was incorrect for the lens I had. I called B&H.. Told them what I did. The sales person was great... gave me a return number, helped me select the correct part and kept all comments to himself about my mistake. I sent my incorrect part back as requested. My correct part got here in record time and I even got some money back as the correct part was less expensive. Moral of the story.... Do business with a quality Company and stick with OEM parts. B&H has always treated me great.
